Default Directions to make 12x12 hanging folders

Well, darnit, I have searched and searched the 'net and SCS this afternoon and have not been able to rediscover the directions I had at one point that tell you how to turn 3 legal sized hanging folders into 2 12x12 ones. Can anyone help me out?

Thanks!

I put this in my favorites a while back:

http://organizedscrapbooks.com/make-...g-organization

I haven't tried it, yet though. I like the 12 x 12 folders at Michaels. The ones at Oriental Trading Company do not slide smootly.

That is so cool - thank you so much for sharing! I need a new way to store my cardstock and this may just be the trick I need.

they went together quite easily. I bought a wire file cart from Staples that I hung them in. Click here to see the one I chose. I think it's going to work out great.

Hi Peg!

I am so glad I ran across this thread. I have been looking for storage for my 12 x 12 DP. This might be what I'm looking for! Thanks!

I bought a white laminate file cube from Oriental Trading Company- the scrapbooking end of the company. I loved the Cropper Hopper one, but couldn't find it anywhere. The cube from Oriental Trading Company costs $50. They sell other cubes where you can put together a whole workspace. I have been very happy with it.

Question about making the 12x12 folders out of legal sized file folders...

Do you get the box bottom ones:
http://www.staples.com/office/suppli...s_10051_SEARCH

Or can you get the cheap ones?

Thanks!

OMG!!!
I have that very same cart as shown in the directions! Like many of you, I have been searching for a way to store my 12 x 12 paper. Now I only need to find a new place for all my other boring household paperwork! LOL
YAY! Thanks everyone.

Ok, I know this isn't a hanging filing system, but it is way cheaper, and super fast to set up ;)
I have stored my paper like this for 5 years, no problems with dust or warping...
and the last one is a pic of my accordion file for 1 color family. I have one for each family, one for 2 years of In Colors, and one for neutral and current In Colors

Thanks for the info about the 12 X 12 folders at Michaels. I have some of the ones from Oriental Trading company and they are horrid! As you said they do not slide smoothly, in fact, they don't slide at all. To move them, you have to roughly shove them on the rods. I have been wanting to replace them and hadn't seen any in the stores I checked. Michaels will be on my list for the next trip to the city.

I did not use the box bottom ones. I think it probably would be harder with those but I don't know for sure. I used fairly inexpensive ones...I think I paid a bit more for a higher recycled materials percentage but certainly used the staples brand.

I don't have the Oriental Trading Company files, but you might want to try spraying the rails with WD-40 as a lubricant. I have tried 4 different types of handing folder systems, and finally went with the Cropper Hopper plastic vertical files. I really like that system and get them at Michael's 40% off coupons. You do have to have some shelving for them. Sorry to get off subject.

You aren't off topic for me! Thanks for sharing this idea - I will try it with the Oriental Trading files, though I suspect it will not solve the problem.(When I compare the "slide groove" on the Oriental files with regular office files, the space allowed for the rod to slide is dramatically smaller and this is probably why they don't work very well. )
