Default toot your own horn!

It's time to brag on yourself! Which of your own cards are you most proud, or do you think stands out from the rest? Please make sure you tell us what made you pick that one.

Here's mine:

mary, mary, quite contrary... (2) by kaloso05 at Splitcoaststampers

I picked it because I used a commercially made card as my template, so I had to take it apart and figure out how to make it. Plus I really like the way the watercoloring worked out. (Lots of times I'm not so happy with my watercolor skills).

Thanks for playing!

Kathryn

I can see why you are so proud - it's just beautiful and your water colouring is super! There are two cards that I had a hard time choosing between, but I think it'd have to be this one. I'm rarely happy with a finished card... being that I always think it needs ''something'' but I was really happy with how it turned out.

My goodness Angela! I can see why you are so proud of that one... it's fantastic! I love how you colored all the creatures, and that zig-zag edging is amazing! love it!

Ok...I thought about playing, but after seeing how great yours are...I will wait until there is something on here more in my league.

I don't mind being last...but this would be like losing the Kentucky Derby by a mile...haha

Cher,

You are too modest! Since you wouldn't pick one of your own.. I've picked one for you! Here's my pick:

On The Fly Again by cjbapp at Splitcoaststampers

I picked it becaue of your watercoloring and torn edges. Also it's a masculine card, which I so have trouble with, but clearly you have mastered!

Nonsense! Allrighty then Ill take the bull by the horns (pun intended). My favourite of yours is this one because I think that the DP and CS colours you chose are wonderful, as is your colouring. I also like how your rick rack complements those lovely scallops!

LOL, since I only made one so far, it would have to be that lonely card in my new gallery!

Aww thanks you guys! I would probably pick that fishing one too...it's one I kept meaning to make more of, but kind of like that there is only one!

You guys just put so much effort into the cutting and stuff...I am not that patient, but it looks incredible!!

And Erin...that's your first card?? My first dozen were not worth mailing! Your first one is beautiful...even if you said you had been doing this for years!

I can see why you chose those cards. I love them all. My favorite has to be this one:

I wanna be a cowboy

I just love how it came together and love the moose.

Jaspere - What a cute moose! I'm glad that arrow wasn't shot lower! I love how you put the star right behind the knot of the ribbon. Very nice!

This is a link to my blog for my fave card I've done. My grandmother turned 95 and before she had to live in a nursing home she was a fabulous artist. So, it was my tribute to her and the influence she had in my life.

It won't let me post the link... my blog is kristinshappy.blogspot.com; it was a June post called Grandmommy's card with copics... hope you'll check it out (sorry!)

Thanks for letting us play!

Kristin --

Lovely card, and a very sweet story behind it. Your coloring is lovely, and I love the scalloped edge you did with your cricut. I have a cricut too, but I never bother to drag it out... seeing things like this make me want to though!

Kathryn,

Thanks! I use .cut designs from much more creative people, like Susan BlueRobot on the cricut forum. But, I have created an oval scallop (that looks a little lopsided!)

I really don't use my cricut as often as I should, but it sure makes some nice things!

I started a thread like this awhile back and it was great fun to see what others chose as their own favorites! It was really hard to choose one then, but I saw your thread today and I had just finished this card and I was genuinely pleased with how it came out. Believe me... that doesn't happen every day LOL!! I'm looking forward to seeing everyone else's at a more sensible hour tomorrow

This is my favorite card cause everything just came together for me. My watercoloring actually looks good and not like a 5 year olds work, LOL!

I love everyone's cards. Thanks for starting this thread, as I haven't seen some of these cards and was really missing out!

I'm not sure which card of mine I'd choose. I tend to like the ones I've invested the most time/effort into making. This is one I like, mostly because it took forever to cut out all the little pieces and layer them on just right. I also love the little screw brad buttons, and I think I get extra points because it is a masculine card (hehe). Thanks for looking! Father's Day by beadfreak22 at Splitcoaststampers

I love all the ones you all have posted so far!!

I think at least for now, this is my favorite. I tried to do a Brayed card as inspired by Michelle Zindorf, but just could not get it to work. My brayer turned out to be lumpy, etc.

So I ended up painting it with my watercolor wonder crayons. I really wanted the tree silouhette but the only one I could find had open leaves. So I had to color in all the leaves a few at a time and emboss them, then color in a few more, over and over again.

My card

Well my favorite pales in comparison to those posted here. I think this is my favorite because of the image. This froggy makes me smile everytime I look at her. I have this card hanging in my stamp room. I just love her leisure attitude of take life as it comes. This was also the first time I tried my colored pencils with baby oil and I think it turned out OK. Anyway, here she is:

What a fun game! My favorite is this one.

Bloomin' Mother's Day by dstfrommi at Splitcoaststampers

I just recently made it, it was for my Mom this year on Mother's Day. My Mom is an artist and I have several of her paintings. She's my biggest supporter and really "gets" my cards. She'll see how much work went into a card, she'll talk about how many layers, etc. The second she opened this one I could tell she instantly loved it.

I guess no matter how old we get (I'm 51 and my Mom is a young 7 we never stop wanting to please our Mom's. And with my Mom's age I can't help but be especially appreciative of each holiday I get to spend with her, knowing they are limited.

That's weird - when I typed seventy-eight above, it would post the smiley in place of the eight. Maybe 78 is an age that has to be censored!

Well I would be pleased with myself too if I made a card like that! I LOVE that beehive image! My family used to keep bees and I'm very jealous of it! lol Very nicely done!

necessity is the mother of invention, and I think you've come up with a great brayer sub. Nicely done!

What a great card! I think I regret not getting that set because I've seen some really lovely things done with it, and of those this is among the best. Hmmm... maybe I'll have to stalk ebay for it!

thanks for playing!

I thought you were trying to be descrete with your Mum's age and thougt it a great trick to do so! Especially with those incognito sunglasses the smiley guy was wearing.

I have to go back to an oldie of mine that will always be a favorite. It's a cowboy card so how can you go wrong? I do a lot of masculine cards, they seem to be my natural flair

very cool card! i love that lasso and the papers you used. I'm jealous of your masculine cards skills. In this next catty I'm going to try to focus on mascusline stamp sets because I am overloaded on florals and other girlie themes.

My mother is seventy-eight too so I know what you mean.

MY fav thing I made recently isn't a card but a cupcake box for my mother's birthday- she seems to get a big kick when I use photos from her youth in my cards and projects. Hope it's ok that it's not a card

What a gorgeous box! Those papers are sumptuous and the photo of your Mum is so sweet! I wish girls still wore flowers in their hair! Why don't they anymore?

I love it!

thanks for playing!

It's funny how quickly we see what we like in the work of others while often missing how we also have work to be proud of!

You ladies have done a wonderful job on these cards.

I had to add this one for a a couple of reasons: I love irises and I'm pleased at how using this photo worked well and I really liked the little pearly brad as well.

Iris Thanks by scrappy knitter at Splitcoaststampers
