I used Scotch double sided tape on mine (didn't have the ATG at the time) and I made about 125 of them. If you have the Red line tape it should hold them. I'm really surprized that the ATG tape didn't hold. I love that stuff.

I just used standard 20 lb bond computer paper. I made 2-3 dozen at Christmas and closed them with my ATG but I also crimped the edge like it showed in the tutorial and they all stayed just fine. Maybe if you burnished the edge after you close it?

I, too, use the red tape. Then I use the crimper for that end and then I tie the other end shut.

My favorite way to make them is with vellum--it seems to cooperate better than heavy cardstock.

Colored staples look cute, too--depending on the design. (again I still tie the other end shut--for easy access.

I used Red Line tape too; then crimped the ends. I've only made them using patterned paper; haven't tried CS yet...

I actually use colored staples. I made many for Halloween for the kids and they loveds them. I used gold, purple and green staples. For Christmas I used red & green.

Ok--I'll ask--what are you making with sour cream containers?

Please share--a picture would be wonderful!

Thanks,

I've made lots of these and use the red double sticky tape.

I just don't get where the sour cream part comes for the name of them.

Sour cream comes in containers the same size and shape. If you order a baked potato from a cafeteria ( ) or fast food- it will come in these. It's just like a single serving size of sour cream. Next time your at Wendy's just ask to see the container- then order fries and a Frosty!;)

3girls1guy.......Thanks for the explanation. I've only gotten my sour cream in a small paper cup or on the potatoe or container from the supermarket. I guess I'm strange, but never go to fast food places. I'll have to ask someone to get me one.

Thanks! Patti

I made a bunch for Valentines Day and still have my "sample" sitting here on my desk (there's no candy in it, or it wouldn't still be sitting here)!! I just used Duck brand double stick permanent tape because that's what my Wally World had in the way of double stick tape when I went shopping. It's holding just fine with the crimped egdes, but the one I didn't crimp wouldn't stay closed!

I have used vellum and the atg for shower favors. I would imagine that dp (more light weight than cs) would work well too.

MY ATG does fine- maybe it's the type of ATG tape you use?

I made a bunch for a craft fair. The designer paper is the right weight. Regular cardstock is too heavy. I used the red line tape (which is pretty expensive) and then crimped the edges.
Some held together well - so well it was hard to get them open to get out the goodies!
Some had small openings.
Lots of work when doing so many.

What is red line tape? I don't make these containers but when I try to put paper on top of paper that I have embossed with my cuttlebug, it won't stay.

It is super sticky double sided tape that has a red liner that you have to peel off.

SU! carries some, as does Michaels--and probably many other places.

You can buy it in large quantities from Taylored Expressions - it comes on a LARGE roll. The only difference is that the backing is white instead of red - works just as well!

I made about 50 of these for party favors and used the designer series paper from SU, cardstock is to heavy. Used sticky strip also from SU and my crimper but they still had a tendancy to come open at the party (outdoors, humidity was a factor) when I ran out of sticky strip I turned to my 2 Way Glue Pen from SU, used the crimper and not a single one of these have come open to this day (leftovers, the party was the last weekend of June). HTH

I made a sample container today for a friend who wants me to make 100 of them for an event. It only takes a few minutes to make but I wonder how long will it take me to make 100. LOL

Default ATG on sour cream containers

I made sets of covered matchbooks (the slide open wooden match kind) for Christmas gifts and the one that I kept for me keeps coming unglued. I wonder if this is because I used the acid free tape. Does anyone know if the bond with the acid free is as strong as the non-acid free tape? I have read on this site that the ATG is so strong that nothing ever comes apart, but that has not been my experience.

So that's what that crimper is used for...HAHAHA I've had it for over a year and crimped some paper once. I didn't really like the look of it and it's been sitting in one of my craft drawers marinating.

I'm so glad Jennifer bumped this thread up. I was ready to mass produce bunches. I may experiment with various tapes and glues. I don't have to have the bulk done until February. Thanks for all the suggestions.
