Ok Lets talk Christmas? I know its early but I am planning early. I guess we can discuss Halloween and Thanksgiving too. What stamps are you buying this year for your card/scrapbook pages??
None. I know it's going to be terribly difficult, but every year I buy like 5-10 stamps/sets for Christmas and then I make 5 cards with each, get bored and don't use them again ever.
so this year I'm doing all my Christmas cards with stamps I already have. It's terribly painful for me because Kim Hughes put out a Christmas set this month and I'm sure there will be more. But I will not buy any.
I make no promises about Halloween. I love Halloween stamps. I think I'm goint stick to what I have on those too. I have a bunch of adorable Odd Bird Planet ones for Halloween. Here is a link to them: http://shop.justjohanna.com/category.sc?categoryId=54 I don't have all those, mostly the cat Pricsilla doing stuff. Oh and I know that she's doing owls for Halloween this year, so that's going to tempt lots of people.
I don't do Thanksgiving cards.

Looking forward to the replies you get for this one!
Last year I got Flaky Friends fom ebay and used it to death on my Christmas cards - so I'm in need of some new inspiration for this year's!
I am not really sure what I am going to buy. I am waiting for the new catty from SU to arrive on the scene, from there I make my decisions. I keep saying that I am going to use the stamps I have. As I write this I know that I probably will end up getting some stuff.
There is just so much out there it boggles the mind
I bought Punch Pals back in February, and then my demo sold some of her stuff and I got Holiday Minis. So I'm thinking I'm set this year. I also stocked up on Wild Wasabi paper and ribbon so that will be the green I use for my cards this year.

I'm being sorely tempted by the new Amy Nugent releases at CHF (specifically the Trumpeting Angel, Three Wise men and We Three Kings stamps). Trying to resist though!
Right now I'm using what I have, but as my favorite companies start releasing Christmas stuff, I'm sure I'll buy a few more. I'm really hoping SU has some good holiday offerings this year...seems like the past few years just haven't hit my style. PTI and Hero Arts will also come up with some stuff I'm sure I have to have.
I only make two Thanksgiving cards (for grandmas) and two Halloween cards (for niece and nephew). I'll stick with what I already have for those.
I'm not planning to buy any more holiday stamps. *gritting teeth* I have tons and tons of Christmas and Halloween stamps!!! I do NOT need anymore! I want more, but don't need more!
i try to use holiday sets for several years. i've used holiday spirit twice already. this year, i may use city of david [bought last year off craigslist], and i've been DYING to do a card with tickled pink [bought a couple of years ago]. i'm LOVIN the new kim hughes set though... so, we'll see. i won't decide until november ;)
I'm waiting for the new SU catalogue too, and maybe Our Baily Bread stamps will have a beautiful Christian set for me. I also get tired of a set in one season. Unfortunately. I will use Season of Joy, though. It has lots of potential yet.
I just got the Tropical Santa set from CTMH. It has a surfing Santa, a flamingo with shades, palm tree with Xmas lights, etc... It was sooo different from everything else I have, I thought it would be fun to lighten things up a bit. I also got some Christmas Riley stamps. I have beautiful wise men stamp that I have to use every year. I think I'm going to do a bunch of different cards with different sets so I don't go crazy with the same thing the way I've done in years past. I need to start working on those soon, I don't have much time once I start teaching again!
Wasn't gonna do it ... was not going to do it ... but Halloween stamps are my favorite. Thanks Erin K for sharing Odd Bird Planet. Spent my July stamp budget.

I'm not going to buy any new holiday stamps, I saw a great idea that I'm going to try for Christmas and I don't make Halloween cards except for my grandchildren and maybe a few Thanksgiving/fall cards. However, the rest of the year is a totally different question all together Looking forward to the new SU catty and the new colors.
I have bought a tonne of christmas stamps this year, right after christmas last year when they were on sale!! We have a big craft expo coming up in August and will hopefully buy one more there.
I LOVE love the Penny Black critters, so I'm hoping to buy another one of those. But seriously, how many christmas stamps do I really need? I only make about 20 cards, and have more stamps than that, so have plenty enough already. They do seem a bit of a waste sometimes as they sit in the drawer most of the year. But I love anything christmas, so I will keep buying anyway.
I'm not buying any more because I have an entire drawer filled with Christmas stamps, plus another drawer filled with justjohanna Odd Bird Planet Halloween and Christmas stamps. The funny thing is that I don't even celebrate Christmas!
Like Erin, I love Priscilla-the-cat's Halloween stamps(by jj OBP), but the her Christmas ones are pretty fun too. Plus there's now a "Meowy Christmas" stamp to go with them. Who could resist those?
Then there's also my penguin collection.
So no more new Christmas or Halloween stamps. Or so I say now. Wait til I see what's coming out at CHA though.
I'm not "planning" on buying any holiday sets, but we'll see what comes out in the next few months. I don't do Thanksgiving or halloween cards, so don't need stamps for those. I've already completed some of my Christmas cards, using High Hopes stamps Frozen Skating Pond and Oliver Oops Bear. I bought TAC's Snowmen Nativity last year but didn't use it, so that set needs to see ink. I also bought Holy Tryptich last year, but only used one stamp for my Christmas cards so I could easily get more use out of it.

I won't be buying any new sets for Christmas/Thanksgiving/Halloween. I find that I already have WAy too many holiday stamps. I've already made my Christmas cards with a set I bought on clearance at my LSS right after Christmas. I got two clear sets on sale for Halloween & Thanksgiving. I only send out a few fall cards, so two sets for each occasion will more than do my cards. Now, I'm sure I'll buy something for next year towards the end of the season, but I don't plan to buy anything new for this year. We'll see if I can really resist buying more stamps!
Instead of buying Christmas/Thanksgiving/Halloween stamps, think about using your regular stamps in different ways. Check out my baroque Christmas card on my gallery. It's just a different way to use it. You could change colors for Thanksgiving. Don't know if it would work for halloween.
Goals for 2015 50 scrapbook pages/50 cards---progress 35/50 cards Complete my daughter's wedding scrapbook album Spend more time enjoying my friends and not so much time obsessing on work!!!
I buy one new Christmas set each year. This year I fell in love with Primitive Christmas from Sweet 'n Sassy stamps. I'm almost finished making my July cards for the monthly challenge and will post soon!
I am looking forward to the new SU catty. HOpefully there will be a nice religious looking set that is not too cutsey. I will only buy 1 set. I make about 50 cards so, I keep them relatively simple.
I make only a few for Halloween and Thanksgiving for nieces/nephews and immediate family so, I am set there.
Ditto Samswindle, I am planning on trying new ways with old sets.
I am not really sure what I am going to buy. I am waiting for the new catty from SU to arrive on the scene, from there I make my decisions. I keep saying that I am going to use the stamps I have. As I write this I know that I probably will end up getting some stuff.

I'm kinda in the same mindset. I did get Solemnn Stillness over the summer and really like it. If I get any new sets, they would really have to knock my socks off.
I'm buying a Riley (Hanna Stamps) for Halloween and Christmas...I'm undecided. I might try to use an old stamp set, but I'll probably end up buying something new.
I kind of alternate years of doing a more labor intensive card with an easy one so I figure this year it will be easy to use this stamp, perhaps emboss it, and maybe a scalloped punch background...I'll play around with it when I get it. Last year I did a Stampington angel with a lute(?) so this year I decided on something more playful and cute.
Love Kim Hughes sets at CHF, and also Playful Christmas from Kitchen Sink Stamps - i have made a bunch of stuff with that one, just this week since I got it!! I also love the set with snowmen and snowflakes from Inque Boutique!
I am not sure yet - I bought few of the new a muse images - I like them because I have nothing like them. I always try to buy "different" things and don't allow myself to have several stamps of one thing - with that rule in mind if it comes out and I like it then I will get it.....
my favorite that I will be using again is the Impression Obsession Holly Chickadee
I am waiting for the new SU catalog, but I must admit - My favorite Christmas sets are always "regular sets" that you can make into Christmas cards. I just got Crab and Company so I hope to do something with that and Big Deal alphabet. I also enjoy the creative people who show us how to make Christmas cards using just paper scraps. (So it's okay to keep all those scraps I keep telling myself.) I am sure that we will have lots of inspiration right here!

I was not going to buy a new Christmas stamps since I have so many but I've changed my mind. I am debating between TAC Christmas Joy or SU Snow Swirled.

I am going to use Flaky friends for my Christmas cards. I bought the set, then sold the set, then I got a card from someone and it was so cute that I bought it again! I know I am a little crazy. So I am determined to use it. Now I just need to decide on colors.

This year I am going to use Lovely As a Tree which I have had for years. I love this set. The only thing I needed to buy was the sentiment for the front which is "Peace." I found this retired set on Ebay which I thought was going to be perfect. I got the set, stamped out the "Peace" and my DH said "Why does this say Place." After he said that I realized that it does look like "Place" and now I'm disappointed and can't find another "Peace" stamp that I like!
This is the set that I bought. Tell me what you think!
