What are all the "trends" or "fads" that have gone on here on SCS?
I thought this would be a fun thread. Remember when everyone was running out to buy every color of Sharpies in every point size available? For coloring on the back of polyshrink, I think it was? And what about the Prismacolors? Everyone was buying Prismacolor pencils from Viking and using them with blending stuff and Gamsol for coloring in line images. Someone even figured out which exact pencil matched each SU color - has anyone done that for the new colors?
There's been talk of microbeads from PennyWiseArts, Twinkling H20's, ribbon storage boxes from Target, etc, etc.
What trends do you remember? Did you get on the bandwagon before even figuring out what you'd do with whatever you were buying?? I've been here on SCS since May of 2004 - surely there were trends even before I was here!
I can remember when everyone was talking about being "snarky", or something like that. I still have no idea what that means, although if I remember correctly it had a negative connotation.
Accordian cards, matboard journals, and spinner cards! There were tons of each uploaded. There are wonderful tutorials for all three in the resources section, if you're interested in giving any of them a try!

I sure got on the accordian card and matboard journal kick....I think I over did myself because I don't care if I EVER make another one again! LOL;)
I bought the Prismacolors and Gamsol, but never sharpened my pencils!
How about tag books...I remember Cambria was on a tag book kick and there were others trying that out.
Oh...and Clarence the Clown...because of JanTink SU! sold more of that set than they ever dreamed of!
I've only jumped into a few fads since I've been part of SCS - my stamping time is somewhat limited. But I have to admit that I'm still really into prismacolor/ gamsol. I love the look it gives.
Oh my, I've been thinking about this too! I would love to see a master list so I can catch up someday with everyone!! Watercolor crayons are the trend now eh?
Let's see: stamping on tiles, RSVP pens, Jr. Legal Pads, Paint Cans, plus what's been mentioned! The gamasol/watercolor pencils was a big one!
"Butt stamping" I think it was a term and technique created by Lana and it's when the Just Jeans background stamp became popular. That is one of the earliest trends I remember.
It's the "spiral" bound creations!! You can do it yourself and the coils come in many different colors. I don't have one but some have them and have created fab things!

It's the machine you can buy that coils pages into a book or whatever you want...If you look at the resources page the Card Organizer has a picture of one.

I like to make sure a trend is sticking around before I jump on the bandwagon - unfortunately by this time the bandwagon is usually a speck in the distance!
Which is why I haven't really got round to making a matboard journal yet! But I did enjoy the shaker card, pocket card and spinner card years (!) and the "Who's Lana?" era. I also miss Darth Debby's stories (what happened to Darth Debby?) and I long to get a whiff of Skunky once more!
The Tearing Edge, authoress JanTink (altho I must confess I never actually had a chance to read any of the issues)--I know, I know . . . please don't throw tomatoes at me . . . :(

I remember there was a HUGE trend of people buying Fellowes Cassette Holders to put their stamp pads in! That was TOTALLY big! I think they sold out at Fellowes because so many people ordered them! HA!

Me and my honey. Aren't we cute?!
I may have to get on this bandwagon! I've seen some really cute photos in the gallery, made me want to do one!
I'm always a day late - just now thinking about going to see what's in the Target $ spot, and also saw cute covered mini composition books in the gallery. Keep thinking, hey that's cute, but never get around to doing it!
I'll watch this thread to see if I'm up with the times yet!!
OOO, they are awesomely fun to make! Unforutunately, I made mine for my SS so I can't share it yet!! ;)
I was thinking about making about 10 of these using the Stella Stamper set to hold order forms at workshops. But then the thought of having to lug them around makes me think twice.
I think that the next trend might be those cute little Z Becky Brown purses! I have just seen two done beautifully in the gallery within the past week and had never heard of them before!! I'm saving for one because they are a littly pricey!

Yep you are right! And you know, Starlitstudio sold out!!! I hope she gets more!!! Just the fact that she was donating some of her income from them to SCS was more than enough reason to buy them!!! LOL
