This week's TLC is the “Paper Piecing” technique. This was the challenge for NOVVSNC, posted by "elliesmom". If you have already made one for the VSN, you know how much fun this technique is! If not, I didn't want you all to miss it!
I fell in love with the baby one!
You can see many more in the gallery by searching on NOVVSNC.
Here's how, from elliesmom:
Step 1. Stamp your image that will use the paper piecing twice, once on neutral cardstock and once on patterned cardstock or paper. You can use a print paper or create your own.
Step 2. Cut out the part of the patterned image that will be pieced onto the neutral image. You can cut on just the inside or even a bit outside of the line. Apply your adhesive and put in place.
Step 3. Finish your card with your image and embellishments and such, just like usual.
As always, if you have questions, please ask. If you have suggestions, please share!
When you upload, please put TLC39 in the keyword section when you upload, and then post a link to your card here in this thread.
If you are new to the challenges, please feel free to do this one or ANY of the challenges at any time. There is no time limit. They are not races to see who can do one first, nor are they contests of any sort. All the challenges are simply to provide inspiration and to get us STAMPIN' !!

I love this technique now, too! (I can't take the credit for the idea, though; I was merely stepping into someone else's shoes.) I hope everyone gives this a shot. It's not as difficult as it may seem, but it gives great results.
Good morning,
I learned this technique many years ago before I started stamping. The way I learned it was a little different from the above directions. You draw a picture, then trace everything you wanted to be a different color, cut out and layer and glue. So much easier with stamps
Here's a link to the one I did for VSN which is a combo of the two techniques:
They won't open for me, either. And I'm sooooo instruction-challenged. I'm a hands-on-learner! It will take me a while to figure out this one. I do so love paper piercing, though.
I LOVED this technique for VSN, too, so I'm happy to get to do it again this week! Thanks Beth. Here's my exampleI did for VSN and I'll be back with more!
Help. I want to enter the challenge for yesterday but it doesn't look like paper piercing as I know it. It appears to be layering. If I just follow the exact directions of the challenge, would that be correct. There is no real "Paper Piercing" with a long needle or tool, correct.
Thanks for your help and Happy Thanksgiving.
Cathy
I have mine done. I stamped the clown once on white then did the clown suit on decorative paper, cut the suit out and attached it to the clown on the white cardstock rather than coloring in his clown suit. Am I right?
I did another one with the flower being the paper piecing. I used sticker paper this time and often do that with snowmen on recycled Christmas scenery cardsjust didnt know it had a name.
I just posted my first card to Challenge TLC 39. Hope I did it correctly.....just uploaded thru the home page with the challenge # as the keyword. Now I don't know how to get it here in my quick note. Think I need a little help.
