White Ink, Black/Dark Paper

Just wondering what white ink people are using when they stamp on black/dark paper. I love that look but whenever I do it, it never seems to show up well and I've seen others do it and it looks great.

I need to see the answer to this because I never seem to get the dark print that others do. I think that embossing just might be the key. I have tried at least four different pigment ink pads trying to get a good image.

I like using Palette New Canvas for my white. Some people also like StazOn Cotton White (or whatever it is called). To get the whitest white you probably need to emboss with white which I would personally use versamark for...

i use stampin up's craft ink, white or vanilla both show up on dark paper. just takes awhile for it to dry.

Same as IdahoLee, I use the SU! Whisper White craft ink. Just make sure you have good coverage and allow for drying time.

The best one I have found is Brilliance Moonlight White.
The worst I have tried is Staz-On cotton white. No matter how much re-inker I use it's never worked.

I use CTMH White Daisy pigment ink pad.
Its really a juicy pad, and take some time to dry.
Its great for dark pages.

Has anyone tried the new Adirondack Pigment Ink pads? I just received some that I ordered from www.AllThatScraps.com and haven't tried them yet. Just wondering if someone has and if you have any tips on how to best use them. TIA

I love, love, love my SU! white craft ink but I am also beginning to use Brilliance Moonlight White a lot. I think this card is a good example of the Brilliance Moonlight White ink on dark cardstock. When I tried the SU! craft ink on the real read it was pretty faint, although it may be time re-ink the pad some. The are both a little different, the Brilliance is a little shimmery and the craft is more of a matte. I don't think I could live without both of them now

I have the new Adirondack White Pigment pad and like it. It's better than StazOn and about the same as the SU white pad.

If I really want a crisp white, I ink with Brilliance White and then use white detail embossing powder.

I wonder if everyone hating the StazOn Cotton White realizes it's for non-porous surfaces? It's meant to be used on glossy paper, acetate, tins, glass, etc. It's not meant for regular paper.

I've always had good luck with SU craft white.

I use the Brilliance Moonlight White, too. It has given me the best impression of everything I have tried. I do like the Palette New Canvas, but it is still my second choice.

Exactly how long do you have to wait on the SU craft to dry? Mine seems to smear no matter how long I wait. I tried to heat with my embossing gun to just set the ink, but it didn't really seem to help. Any other suggestions....I really love the white ink!

Another vote for Brilliance. But, if I want a very bright white (and no shimmer) I love Frost White from Colorbox. I have the catseye pad now, but as soon as I find a larger one I'll buy that too!

I have the Colorbox white. It's a very, very old pad and I've never re-inked it, but it works well. If I want a very white image, though, I always emboss with white as well.

I just found this thread, and I have been wondering what the trick is to white ink for a while now... so thank you for all of the great suggestions!

A few people have mentioned Brilliance Moonlight White ink pads, and I was wondering if you can them in local craft stores like Michael's or AC Moore? Or do you get it online somewhere?

I found my Moonlight White ink pad at Michaels. I think I've seen them at JoAnn's too. Hope that helps!

I saw Brilliance at Mike's also. I've had a big problem with my white Colorbox ink pad not giving an even cover to larger stamps. Anyone else have this problem? Is it only good for smaller stamps? I tried it with Papertrey's Text Boxed and it took a few tries to even look ok. Maybe Brilliance will be better.

I love the colorbox pigment white for most things, although Jennifer McGuire just did some great videos on using the White Stazon to stamp on transparencies, and then overlay those onto dark cardstock. It's a great way to get the vibrant white look. More info here:

The ones I use though are the Brilliance Moonlight White and SU! Craft White.

I read through the other thread too and I think a lot of wether you like a color or not is dependent on what your expectation of it is. In my opinion, none of them are perfect, but some may meet your needs better than others.

I've used lots of different white pads, and here is what I've found. The Colorbox white is wonderful if you're going to emboss with white or clear embossing powder. Otherwise, in my experience, it NEVER dries. I've ruined so many projects that way, because even after weeks, it didn't dry. The Staz On white is very sticky, and I'm not crazy about it - even on non-porous surfaces. The Palette New Canvas doesn't show up very well. It's good only if you want a hint of white.

You might not believe this, but the best white ink I've ever used without having to emboss it is JoAnn's Craft Essentials white pigment inkpad. ($3.99) You do have to wait a little while (I've never actually timed it), but it does dry. I haven't tried the Brilliance yet, but I'd like to.

Frost White from Colorbox is my very fav white...opaque and shows on the darkest of darks. If I use a gloss paper, I emboss with a detail clear powder.
