Want to add a hint of a glimmer or a shimmer to your art? Its easy to make your own shimmer spray or glimmer spray. Depending on the ink color you use for the base, it can either be used as an accent or as a coloring agent for your cardstock.
It is dastardly hard to capture the fabulous effects of this technique on film, so you will have to try it yourself!
To make the spray, get a small spray bottle (such as a Mini Mister from Ranger or a sample size or travel size spray bottle). Add to it: 1/4 teaspoon Perfect Pearls 1 ounce water reinker - depends on how dark you want it. About 10 drops is a good place to start.
Shake well and spray on your project. Of course, how close you are to the project when you spray will determine the amount of coverage and wetness. Experiment to get the idea and recognize that you will never get exactly the same effects twice. You do not have to measure the ingredients exactly...I used the tip of my scissors as a spoon. Whatever Perfect Pearls I could scoop up with tip of the scissors was the amount I used. A popsicle stick works well too as a spoon/scoop.
It is important to use Perfect Pearls and NOT Pearl-Ex. Perfect Pearls has a binding agent in it and it will stick to your project. Pearl-Ex will fall off your project after the water dries unless you use the alternate recipe..
Alternate method: Get a travel size bottle of Hair Spray and add Pearl-Ex and reinker to it. Shake well and you are good to go.
Some combinations to try: A light yellow re-inker with gold or bronze Perfect Pearls A green re-inker with gold PP Burgandy re-inker with gold PP

No PP or PE in my supplies either, but I'll be commenting!!! Question: Once you mix up the recipe can you keep it in the spray bottle or do you need to discard the excess (ie does it gum up etc.?) thanks!

I saw this technique at the stamp show earlier this month. Beautiful results! So beautiful I ended up buying the supplies for it...and now I have a gentle push to get it done ;) Thanks for the challenge!
oOOOO!!!! I actually bought some glimmer mist wanting to play with it.....no excuses now!! (but sadly, first comes the taxi driver who must take the child to piano lessons, then out for a donut (reward))
I only have 3 Perfect Pearls colors and 2 reinkers, but I think I have came up with the color mixture that will work. This is a great challenge, I found a card from the featured stamper challenge yesterday that I wanted to try and this will work perfect for it. Thanks for the great idea.
I used glimmer mist which I have never used before so this pushed me to try it. I hope it is ok that I used my mist rather than making it. I figure I had it so I should use it rather than making more when I never used this one. Anyway, here is mine:
I love this place....wow. Can't WAIT to get home from work and try this.
