Got any baby wipes around? Those work well.
In the past I've also used some glass/surface cleaner on a paper towel - not directly on the rubber.

rinse under the faucet and use a toothbrush if they are too stuburn. (I try to only get the rubber wet that way they dont take so long to dry)

Someone has posted a "recipe" to make some cleaner before - here are a couple threads:

I've been stamping for a coulple of years now and still I don't have the Scrub Pad and Mist. I use Huggies babywipes. I don't plan on buying it in the future, I tried that Scrub Pad and Mist at my demo's house and I just don't like!

Before I had my Stampin' Scrub, I used those edger paint pads that fit on a rectangle holder. They aren't as great as the Stampin' Scrub, but they work better than nothing.

I have a bottle of stamp cleaner that has a dauber tip (like a Bingo Marker!) - I dab some of this on the rubber and then wipe off with cotton cloth.

I too have used the paint edgers, baby wipes, etc.
Anything that is quick and easy and gets my stamps clean has top marks in my book....
I'm too busy buying stamps to buy the scrubber  but I do buy the stamp mist as it is the best I've found so far!!

Default cleaning stamps

Whatever you choose, make sure it does not contain alcohol as this can dry out the stamps and cause them to crack.

This kinda goes with this topic. I have some pesky stazon stuck to my stamps. Had a new pad. Eick! Any advice on how to get it out of my stamp images?

I love my stampin scrub but I also keep a bottle of Stazon Remover handy. Even for my Classis Black. It really helps get it off. (I don't obsess if it doesn't come perfectly clean, though)

Default cleaning stamps

I have the su scrub pad and cleaner and I have ruined the wood on some of my new stamps by using it. I still use it but only on my older stamps. I use baby wipes w/aloe and no alcohol for mine and they do a good job w/out messing up the wood.

If you have some stamps that permanent ink is on them you can get a cleaner from walmart called De-Sol-it for about $3.50 or so. It lasts forever and is in a spray bottle. It does not have an offensive odor either. After using it, I rub a baby wipe over the stamps to lubricate them again.

Hope this helps.

How has it ruined your wood. I had forgotten there was a cleaner just for staz on.

Default stamps

The wood has been badly stained. I do not guess it is ruined, used wrong term. I am very particular about the way my stamps are trimmed and do not like the wood being stained.

I am very careful now for sure.

I understand. I almost wish I had a set of stamps for others to use and one for myself. My pads get icky too. I just wish people cared for our stuff like we do. Oh well.

I also have the stampin' mist and pads; but still often use I use baby wipes (aloe and no alcohol) to clean many stamps - especially black ink. This does a great job. Hardware stores carry paint pads (I think that's what they are called) - they look like the SU scrub pad in miniature and that works well with the baby wipes.

I really like my original white SU pads; but the black ones really don't seem to clean as well in my opinion - not sure why the color would make any difference but it seems too.

Before I got my stampin' scrub I used to use a towel/rag, one side wet and one side dry! Worked great!

I haven't tried it yet, but someone posted in another tread that they use a YoYo Yellow Classic Stamp pad to clean Basic Black and Stazon off their stamps! I guess SU! had even mentioned it at one time. It ruins the pad, of course, so you'd have to have one designated just for cleaning purposes.

The idea of ruining a pad just kills me though.
