Sharon Madson - smadson
Hello! I am Sharon Madson aka smadson on Splitcoaststampers. I was stunned when Lydia contacted me about being in the Dirty Dozen. After I got over the shock, I became very excited. I could not believe I would be a member of this design team!
I will tell you a little about myself. I am married to a wonderful, encouraging, romantic husband for 55 years come September! We are very proud parents of two grown children and proud grandparents to three adult grandchildren. But sadly to say they are all out of state. I was a banker for 30 years, doing everything from teller to brokerage, which kept it interesting. I have been active in whatever church we were in over the years. I taught Sunday School for 30 yeas. I have been active in our ladies ministries at churches and through the Ladies Encouragement Ministries I have made decorations for all sorts of events, and even headed up a card making groups.
It was 1988 when I got into paper crafting through a Creative Memories party; scrapbooking is my first love. In the early 90s I bought my first rubber stamp in a Victorian gift shop; I didn't even own an ink pad! Then in the mid 90s on a business trip, I witnessed a heat embossing demo in a shop and left with some stamps, ink pad and embossing powder. I went home and heat embossed over an electric stove! LOL So, that is how it all began. At first I was just scrapbooking, and stamping on Sunday School papers. By 2000, I was introduced to SU! parties. A demo friend said I should have a party because I would get a free teapot stamp set. She knew I liked and collected teapots at the time. I was hooked! By that time I had discovered craft stores, scrapbook stores, and craft shows! I was building up quite a collection of supplies! So, when I retired 12 years ago, my husband planned a dedicated craft room for me.
Shortly after I retired in 2009, I discovered Splitcoaststampers. My first uploads were of my newly designed craft room. My husband has designed another one too, because we moved a couple of years ago. I told you he is supportive!
The first challenge I did was one for VSN. This is when I really started making cards. I was hooked! I have been doing the challenges ever since. DTGD, and Falliday Fest are favorites. I still do my scrapbooking, too. I have made many friends on SCS, and spend a lot of time doing the daily challenges, and chatting in the forums. I love all the inspiration and encouragement on Splitcoastampers.
So many have inspired me, and I hope, now I can pay it forward and inspire someone. I am honored and humbled to be on the Dirty Dozen Design team.
