Rosy Newlun - konarose
Captain Cook, HI
I can't believe it either. But thank you so much for inviting me onto the dirt pile with all of you.
My name is Rosy Newlun. We live on the south Kona side of the Big Island of Hawai'i since 2004. I had 4 children. I'm married to a super sweet man, Bruce. He had 5 children but they were adults by the time we married, 28 years ago. All of them live on the mainland. He spent most of his life in southeastern Alaska. He was a builder. I was a nurse. We met in Tacoma, Washington and it was love at first sight. I'm disabled now and Bruce stays home with me. I grew up all over because our dad was in the military. It was great though. As a kid and then adult I've lived in a lot of places: on both coasts, in Colorado, Germany, and now Hawai'i.
In 2011 a friend in an online chronic pain/chronic illness support group sent me a card that she made. I was floored. I had no idea that was a thing. She explained I could learn all I need to know about card making at Gina K. Designs. HELLO, Gina, and HELLO card making addiction! Soon after I found SCS.
I love techniques, fun folds and Copic coloring. I try to make CAS cards but it doesn't always end up that way. I also thoroughly enjoy humor. Thor-ough-ly. Even a touch of snark. I make my cards mostly while laying on my side in bed. Yes! Like so many of you, health challenges are a daily struggle. I can barely walk, stand or sit because of bone and nerve pain. In this picture I just put a dress on, hobbled outside where there is enough light, then hunched over the trunk of our car in the driveway. You can see a little bit of ocean in the far back. But don't feel sorry for me. Cardmaking is so much fun. I love sending them to people all over that have difficult challenges in life.
From the bottom of my heart, thank you for having me.
