Melody Schwartz - lacyquilter
I feel so honored to be a part of the Dirty Dozen Design Team. It has been a long time dream, but not one I expected to realize, so I'm really happy to be here.
I grew up in northern Wisconsin with two brothers and two sisters; I'm the fourth of the group. I'm married (40 years) to a wonderful man who tolerates my crafting messes. We live in Waukesha, Wisconsin, and have two single adult children a girl and boy who live in the area, so we get to see them often. I am a very shy introvert, so you won't often find me just being chatty.
I can't remember a time when I wasn't making things, from doll clothes when I was young, and as I got older, to quilts, crochet doilies, bobbin lace, papercrafts, and just about anything else in between. I love creating things from trash rescues, in other words, don't throw that away; I can use it.
Although I had done some card making previously, I was really introduced to stamping in 1999 by a friend having a stamp party. I had no idea what it was all about and hesitated to go, but my husband encouraged me to attend. Needless to say, I was hooked, and within months I signed on as a SU demonstrator. (I think he may have regretted that bit of encouragement.) Because I was mostly a hobby demo, after 10 years, I decided I no longer wanted the struggle to stay active and dropped out. Somewhere along the way, I discovered SCS. The talent and tutorials shared here are so inspiring, and have helped me grow as an artist.
I hope my creations will add to that inspiration and help you to push yourself a little farther along in your own artistic journey.
Again, I am thrilled to be here on the 'dirt pile'.
