First let me say how excited and honored I am to be a part of the Dirty Dozen Design Team! Like so many others, I received a PM from Lydia about something else. I thought it was related to the Color Challenge Team. As I read it, I was shocked to see her invitation to become a part of the DD team. She even said I was at the top of her wish list. Ha – this has been a wish of mine for many years, and I felt like she was the Fairy Godmother granting my wish.
My stamping adventure started about 16 years ago after a friend of mine gave me a handmade card. I was so in awe of what she did and asked her so many questions. She had a Stampin’-Up party and invited me. That was the beginning of this incredible journey.
I joined SCS in 2005 and initially I was just a stalker. Then in 2008 I decided to upload a card. From there I participated in the daily challenges, joined the fan club and became involved with the Color Challenge. That has evolved over the years to me heading up the team of color challenge designers.
The next arena I wanted to become a part of was being a designer for a stamp company. I decided to start a Blog in 2009 (The Charmed Life) because I knew that was a requirement of most companies.
I jumped in when a call when out from Spellbinders in 2011 and then again in 2013. I made it to the final round both times but wasn’t selected for their team. But that was a big boost to my self-confidence as a card maker. I even had Lydia rooting for me when I tried out the 2nd time.
I kept pursuing this dream and was selected for the Sweet ‘N Sassy Team and then for Marks Finest Papers. I am currently a designer as well as the DT coordinator for CottageCutz.
A bit about me personally: I am married to the love of my life, Alan. We have 2 sons, 2 daughters-in-law and 4 grandchildren. I worked in the Telecommunications industry for Verizon for 30+ years. When I retired from there, I became involved with our Church Pre-School. So, I went from investing my life in corporate America to investing myself in the lives of children. And, I have found a second very rewarding career.
I finish this brief bio by once again saying thank you Lydia! I'm so happy to be joining the Dirty Dozen and I hope that I can inspire the stampers here at SCS with some of my creations over the next 6 months!
