I am ecstatic about being asked to be a Dirty Girl! To be counted among these incredible artists is a complete privilege. There are so many incredible stampers on SCS, I am inspired by so many of you on a daily basis!
I was born in California and moved to Alaska when I was about 6 years old. I consider myself an Alaskan and love the incredible beauty that surrounded me in my youth. I attended BYU for a year then left when I went on a mission for my Church to the New York Rochester Mission for 18 months. Upon returning, I met Chris in Bellingham, Washington and was married shortly thereafter. We lived in Provo, Utah for a time where I instructed at Provo collage in the Dental Assisting program. We returned to Bellingham for him to get his MBA and continue to live in this beautiful city. We have 4 daughters. Alex 12, Hannah 10, Pepper (Sydney) 6 and Ella is 2. What great joy and blessing I receive from being a SAHM!
I have always been the creative type. I concentrated in the performing arts more than anything. I grew up dancing and instructed jazz dance as well as acted in the community theatre in Alaska. Music is a huge part of our family! Singing solos throughout the year in different church meetings is one of my greatest joys along with caramel! My beautiful daughters are now jumping on the bandwagon. We've had a blast doing a few local community and university theatre productions together!
When my girls came along I quit work as a Dental Assistant and dove back into crafts. I started woodworking and tole painting. I had many friends that tried to get me into stamping and I scoffed at it because I just couldn't see how it was even creative. Then one day my 3 year old helped mommy re-paint the 5 hour project that I had just finished. That day changed my life as I searched for a new and less stressful creative outlet. I attended a party and started gathering a few stamps. Then one trip to Montana to my SIL's home really did me in. She was a Stampin' Up! Demo! I wanted to run away with her catalog! (Not to mention her gazillion stamp sets!) Totally love at first sight! I signed up as a Demonstrator about 6 months later and have never looked back! I have been stamping for 3½, demo for almost 2 years. Every creative day enhances my life so greatly; I never want to stop! There is a joy in creating for others that is hard to describe. I just know that when I receive something that is made from the heart, my heart grows! My favorite part of being a demonstrator is the amazing ladies I have become friends with through my classes and clubs. I just love them!
