Jacqueline Valade - jacqueline
Wilmington, NC
WOW! Me? Really? Lydia’s asking me to be part of the Dirty Dozen? Um, yes please! And, I’m not sure Lydia realized it but she sent me the PM on my birthday…best birthday present ever! I'm a dirty girl! It actually took a couple of days to sink in. I’ve long admired the work of the Dirty Girls and I am honored to [finally] be part of this coveted group. Squeeeeeeeeeee!

So, a little about me...I wasn't too clever in the screen names department back in 2004 when I first joined Splitcoast...my SCS name is jacqueline. Original, I know. My husband Joe and I live on the southeast coast of North Carolina in Wilmington with my Pomeranian, Piper, and our almost two-year old cat, Daphne. I work full time at the local water treatment plant as an Office Administrator & Division Safety Officer. I've been in North Carolina since 1995 but I was born and bred in Buffalo, NY (represent). Love the weather and beaches in Wilmington but so miss the food and culture of Buffalo. Fun fact: Wilmington is known as "Hollywood East" and "Wilmywood". It is home to the largest film studios in the U.S. outside of Hollywood, CA. Many movies and TV shows have been filmed here...Dawson's Creek, One Tree Hill, Under the Dome, Revolution, Secrets & Lies, Weekend at Bernie's, We're the Miller's, Sleeping With the Enemy, Iron Man 3, Safe Haven and more.

Like many of you, I have been a crafter of sorts most of my life...painting, pottery, drawing, scrapbooking, crafts - you name it, I've probably dabbled in it somewhere along the way. Most recently, I've taken up baking & decorating cookies with royal icing. Super fun (and delicious). My papercraft obsession began with scrapbooking in the early 2000's. Then, my BFF invited me to a Stampin’ Up! party in 2004. I reluctantly went but ended up having fun and even bought a set of stamps (Hedgehog Happiness). I also ended up winning a giant prize basket that contained a bunch of ink pads, card stock, stamp sets, blending pens - everything I needed to get started. It was so exciting and once I did get started I was hooked.

While I don’t feel I have a particular “style” I do feel that my stamping abilities have improved and developed tremendously over the years. And, after trying just about everything on the market I know now that there are certain things I can live without. I tend to reach for the Copic markers for coloring images and I love creating different backgrounds using various mediums. I’m looking forward to joining the rest of the Dirty Girls and sharing some ideas and projects with you over the next six months.
