Hello fellow stampers! I’m so excited to join the dirt pile! I have never been on a design team but I always love seeing the variety of creations that design teams come up with. What an honor to be a part of the Dirty Dozen!
So, a bit about myself. I’m married to my best friend Jeff and we have two wonderful daughters. Sara is 18 and Aubrey is 20. Sara is about to go to college one hour away. Aubrey lives in town so she comes over regularly to eat dinner. We are lucky to have them close because they are pretty cool. I have lived in Fayetteville, Arkansas most of my life and I love it here. The Ozark Mountains are beautiful and we have plenty of things to do in our metropolitan area. If you’re ever in the area, shoot me a line!
For work, I am an architect and have a home office where I design residential projects. I knew I wanted to be an architect in 4th grade when my best friend’s dad gave us some graph paper to design our dream houses. Mine was an underground house with a trampoline room, atrium, revolving front door and a bedroom for the twins. What fun!
I enjoy architecture, but I love cardmaking even more. I like the small size and the ability to do whatever you like! I especially enjoy visiting and participating in many different challenges on Splitcoast and other stamping blogs. The challenges really help me pick a direction to go with colors, layout or theme. The main challenges here on Splitcoast I participate in when I can are CAS Mondays, Teapot Tuesday, Featured Stamper and Cards for a Cause. My mom loves stamping as much as I do and so we share stamps and talk about stamping almost every time we get together! I used to sell Stampin’ Up, but now I just support my amazing local SU demonstrator. I also really like Newton’s Nook stamps, but have a sprinkling of stamps and products from other companies too. I don’t think I have a particular style, but I like clean, well-designed cards whether they are simple or layered. Yellow is my favorite color to use on cards and I love anything with flowers, cute animals or a modern/graphic feel. Enamel dots and sequins seem to find their way on most of my cards and I like to do fun folds and use wobblers.
I’m also a big animal lover and have volunteered with several animal shelters and organizations. At one point we had nine pets! We are down to six. . .two little terror-wawas (terrior/chihuahuas) who are actually really sweet, one onery cat and three chickens. I call my husband the “Rooster” because he’s always protecting the chickens and they love him!
I’m kind of a homebody and enjoy reading and watching reality tv. Great British Baking Show and Survivor are family faves. I also like to go for walks, hike, visit with friends and family and travel all sorts of place! We are going to Austin in a few weeks, then next on our list are Arizona, Salt Lake City, Palm Springs and Banff. Let me know if you have any suggestions for other great places to visit!
I’m glad to be asked to be a part of the Dirty Dozen and look forward to getting to know everyone more!
