Chrysi McDonald - knoxville8625
Hello, SCS friends! I'm, Chrysi McDonald, but you know me as knoxville8625 and I live in Knoxville, Tennessee. I was born in Baltimore, Maryland and lived there until 11 years old, when my family moved to Virginia Beach, Virginia. This is where I lived until after I was married to my husband, John. We met on a blind date and decided to get married on our second date, six days later. We were married six months after that and have been blessed to be married for 47 years. We have a son and a daughter. Our son is married and has 5 wonderful children from 17 down to 11 1/2 years old. Our daughter is a Greek Orthodox Christian nun. We joke, (but, it's true) that we are twice blessed, a daughter who prays for us and a son who gave us grandchildren! How could we ever want for anything else?!
Since a young age, I have been interested in arts and crafts, sewing and singing. After moving to Knoxville in 1983 and with older school age children, I was able to take classes in drawing, tole painting, basket weaving, doll making, candy making, smocking and whatever could be arranged through our county extension service. And then it happened!!! I went to a Stampin' Up! "Make and Take" party at a friend's house. That was it! I was hooked! I loved stamping, but cardmaking was too much fun! Early in 2005, I discovered Splitcoaststampers. I heard about it at a scrapbooking store. I became a member in June 2005! I posted cards until October 2011.
In 2011, my health caught up with me. I have eight auto-immune disorders, the worst being MS and Lupus. Since I was sick and frequently tired, my interest in cardmaking fell by the wayside. Please don't feel sorry for me! I am so blessed. Although disabled, I am still as active as I can be. And then early in 2020 the cardmaking bug bit me again. For a few weeks, I would make cards and text them to one of my brothers to see. We would discuss different aspects of design, color, technique, etc. At his encouragement to display my cards on SCS, I rejoined and started participating in several challenges a week. And then, in June, I saw that I had a private message. It was from Lydia! Oh, my goodness! Are you kidding me? Me, a Dirty Dozen member? Okay! What's next? Six months and I'm so excited! Thank you for the great honor! I will try to live up to the challenge!
