Christine Okken - ChristineCreations
I've always loved art; when I was very young I loved to color, my mom sent me to art lessons, and in JH and HS I learned some basics from great teachers. I lapsed in college and grad school, then began scrap booking 10 years ago, but I've neglected this since having kids, because of the time factor. When I went to a Stampin' Up! workshop and saw what my (now) up-line Susan could do, it was instant artist satisfaction--I was captivated and joined a 10 for 10 (yay, Cheesy Chicks!) and a year later in 2004, became a demonstrator. I love all types of stamping, but watercoloring is my favourite.
In every-day life, my husband (of 13 1/2 years) and I are Youth Pastors at a wonderful church. We are blessed to work together with junior-high, high-school and college-age students. We love what we do and love having an impact with students. My husband is my biggest source of encouragement and support. We’ve lived in South Dakota when we were first married and have been back in Alberta for almost 10 years. We are the proud parents of three children, an 11 year-old daughter, who loves reading and the arts, an 8 ½ year-old son, who is our natural athlete, and a 4 ½ year-old son, who keeps us busy with his talking, energy, and budding interest in creating whatever Mommy is doing. In my spare time I’m learning how to run, love to read, and enjoy public speaking. It’s a wonderfully full life.
I’m honored to have this opportunity to create with the DD Team, and I look forward to the next 6 months with you! I hope in some small way to inspire you the way so many of you have inspired me!
