Here is the inside of the card. The poem on the left was written by a Mom for her son when he went to boot camp, so I thought I'd use it for this card. It reads:
The meaning of a boy's life is often untold,
For the knowledge of choices fail to unfold.
He ventures through childhood holding a hand,
Too soon letting go, the want of the man.
Still caught by the questions, not knowing the way,
But yet pushing forth, still unsure of today.
The laughter, the sadness, the journey's begun,
The mystery unsolved, the promise is done.
To now seek his purpose, the future at stake,
Pride is his armor, beckoned by fate.
The stars whisper to him, the stripes call his name,
He now knows the answer, dedication remains.
He fights for that dream, respect is now earned,
He's taken, he's given, and he's cried as he's learned.
His knowledge is power, his integrity strong,
His honor is proven, so now to belong.
He takes in his hand, the globe of belief,
He bows down to God, full of thanks and relief,
The world at his feet, tomorrow is seen,
The boy as a man, the man a Marine.
I thought it was well written and enjoyed that it told a "story".
