by Beate Johns

Supplies

  • Scor-Pal™ or other scoring tool
  • 4 1/4" x 8 1/2" Cardstock
  • 4 1/2" x 9" Cardstock (optional)
  • Three 4 1/4" pieces of patterned paper
  • Scor-Tape™ or other strong adhesive
  • Craft knife and cutting mat
  • Cutting die (Spellbinders Nested Hearts used here)
  • Additional cardstock for main image
  • Embellishments

Step-by-Step

  1. Step 1

    Score the 4 1/4" x 8 1/2" piece of cardstock at 2 1/8"

  2. and then at 4 1/4".

  3. Step 2

Adhere one of the patterned paper pieces to the unscored side of the cardstock base.

  4. Step 3

Apply adhesive on the scored side of the cardstock base. Add additional adhesive on the outer panel.

  5. Apply patterned paper over the adhesive.

  6. Step 4

Score panel again at 2 1/8". It will make folding the side easier later.

  7. Step 5

Turn the cardstock over. Apply adhesive, and again add more adhesive on the outer panel.

  8. Adhere last piece of patterned paper over the section.

    Optional:
Score the side again at 2 1/8".

  9. Step 6

Fold scored side of the card base.

  10. Step 7

Place die template in the center of the folded side of the cardstock. Trace shape onto the left panel of the scored side.

  11. Step 8

Cut traced shape out on the left hand side.

    Hint:
If you have a hard time cutting through three layers, trace and cut shape before the last piece of patterned paper is adhered. Then adhere paper piece and cut through the last piece.

  12. Step 9

Cut and decorate shape using the same die, cut out of additional cardstock. Adhere shape to the center of the folded card side.

  13. Step 10

Decorate the inside of the card.

  14. Step 11

If desired, adhere to a bigger card base or square.

How did you prepare the card front with the nested heart? I bought the set, thinking it would cut the scroll too. I don't understand why part of it is white, and part blue.
