Crimped Envelope Pocket Card

by Theresa Momber

Create a pouch out of a regular envelope.

Supplies

  • A2 size Envelope

  • Paper Trimmer

  • Crimper

  • Adhesive

  • Stamps>>(Gina K. stamp set A Year of Flowers used here)

  • Cardstock (for insert)

Step-by-Step

  1. Step 1

    Seal the envelope.

Use your paper trimmer to cut 1 1/4" from one of the short sides of the envelope.

The narrow piece will be the topper and the larger piece will be the crimped pocket portion of the card.

  2. Step 2

Decorate both pieces with stamps, keeping in mind that the bottom piece will be crimped and the images may be slightly distorted.

  3. Step 3

Place the larger piece into the crimping tool with the opening to the side, and crimp.

  4. Step 4

Add stamped/cut images, die cuts and embellishments as desired.

  5. Step 5

To create the insert, cut a piece of card stock to 4" by 4 1/4".

For a layered look, cut additional pieces slightly smaller.

  6. Step 6

Stamp and embellish insert as desired.

  7. Step 7

As a variation you can scale the project down to create gift card holder.

This is a very beautiful craft. Thank you for taking the time to show us! Did you use Copic markers to colour the roses? If so, what colours did you use? Thanks for any info you can supply. Joan in British Columbia

Joan - I did use Copic markers to color the roses. The colors were R22, R24 and R27.

Since I am mailing these out...do I really need to go to what seems to be much larger envelope for mailing or is trhere a trick to this?
Another A2 envelope won't work for mailing will it?
Thanks again! Deebi/Debbie
Deebi  |  Wed Feb 4, 2009 at 4:38 PM
Debbie - It seems like it would be a tight fit. A square envelope would be nice to mail these in, since they are nearly square (4 1/4 by 4 1/2), so perhaps a 5 inch square envelope from some place like clearbags.com. You could always scale the project to fit what ever envelopes you find and then scale the insert accordingly.

I did buy Wal-mart envelopes a while back and it seemed like they were a tad smaller that the usual A2 envelopes. You might try looking there. Those combined with the traditional A2 envelopes, might give you just the size variation you would need. KWIM?

silly question....what do you do with the top? How does it stay together?
Beth  |  Thu Feb 5, 2009 at 2:47 AM
Beth - The top fits over the bottom portion, like a lid. You just slide in on. The crimping on the bottom makes it narrower, allowing the top to fit perfectly.

When you are decorating your bottom, keep in mind that the top 1 1/4 inches with be covered by the topper. smile

This is just beautiful. How did you do the coloring around the outside of the envelope. I am new to so many cool looks and I do not know how to start.
Thank you
