Manufacturer's Description

The Clip It Up! Ribbon Organizer is an intuitively designed, easily accessible ribbon holder. Rather than hanging ribbon spools on dowels, users can simply drop ribbon into the holder, where it is easy to pull out the amount of ribbon needed without unwinding the spool. A metal rod underneath the holder provides space to clip up ribbon scraps, making them easy to see and use. This organizer is a ribbon lover’s dream come true. Includes two scissor holders, holds ribbon spools up to 4 ¼” and includes metal swivel clips to clip on a metal rod to store ribbon scraps. Available in two sizes: 36” and 18”.

Product Description

The Ribbon Organizer comes to you fully assembled. It's lightweight, easy to hang, and easy to use right out of the box. This organizer stores a good number of spools inside the holder, has room for two pairs of scissors so that your good ribbon scissors won't get misplaced, and has more storage for loose ribbon and other craft supplies to hang underneath on the provided clips. With everything out in the open, it's easy to know what you have.

  1. Clip it up! Ribbon Organizer Makes Crafting Easier

    By Ashley Newell

On installation, the Clip It Up! Ribbon Organizer was assembled and ready to install out of the box. It was lightweight and easy to remove. The directions were very helpful, using pictures and text to make the installation easy and fast. The Clip It Up! came with anchors and screws to install; however, as a personal preference for hanging pictures and items in my house, I used Hercules Hooks. It was easy to align the markings to hang the Clip It Up! because it has a sliding feature to install at different points. After installation, there is a plastic piece used to cover the screws, which I thought was a very special addition for a sleek appearance. Next, I added the clips and it was completely installed within 15 minutes and not a lot of hard work, sweat, or tears.

On usability, the Clip It Up! holds 49 spools of ribbon that are mostly 5/8” along with some ½” and 3/8” spools as well. I was very pleased with the amount of ribbon it held. I own a lot of ribbon and it holds almost all of my collection. The part I like the best is the ability to hold my fabric scissors so it is always available when I need to cut some ribbon. I also like the clips to hold smaller pieces of ribbon, which helps reduce waste. There are a lot of clips, which can also hold other small items. The Clip It Up! also comes with a sticker to apply to assist when measuring ribbon. They thought of everything!

Since redesigning a new paper crafting studio, I was looking for something to organize my ribbon better, and the Clip It Up! was the perfect addition to my new room. It fits perfectly above a workspace and also shows off all a beautiful ribbon collection. Since the ribbon collection is in plain view, it helps me to determine what ribbon I may be out of or low on that will need to be replenished. So, Clip It Up!, organize your ribbon collection, and make life easier!

  2. Ultimate Ribbon Organizer

    By Rose Ann Reynolds

I love having a lot of ribbon choices, and it's even better when it is organized and easy to access. I have used different types of organizers in the past, and after trying the Clip It Up! Ribbon Organize, this is by far my favorite!

Installation was very quick and easy, as I used Hercules Hooks suggested by another reviewer on the team (thanks Ashley!).

I love how this organizer holds more ribbon than any other I've tried, and the gutter-style design makes it so easy to use! The extras are truly a bonus: 1) Rod and clips to hang ribbon scraps 2) Scissor holders so you can keep your scissors right where you need them 3) Sliding tension divider to secure ribbon spools 4) Measuring guides so you can clip off just the right length of ribbon.

I chose to clip up my ribbon combo packets to the lower rod on the unit, rather than ribbon scraps. Because these are a bit heavier than scraps, the rod is a little stressed. Perhaps a redesign with a support in the center of the rod would be something to consider. I am also concerned about exposure of the ribbon to my 'dust bunnies', and I'm trying to come up with an idea for keeping everything covered when I'm not crafting.

Overall, I am extremely pleased with the Clip It Up! Ribbon Organizer, I only wish it would have been available a long time ago.

  3. Well-designed Ribbon Storage System

    By Mary Brown

One day I was looking at the mess of ribbon on my stamping desk and I thought how I REALLY needed to get my dear husband to make me a different type of ribbon holder (he made the one I had been using). I was thinking how it would be SOO nice to have it where the rolls of ribbon would sit in a shelf so that I could pull to cut it or remove it so that I could do a lot of cutting for my classes. I also thought how nice it would be if I could figure out something to do with all my scraps instead of just throwing them in a basket. Now, I'm REALLY not making this up. Later that day, Lori told us we would be reviewing the Clip It Up! ribbon storage system. WOW!!! Now how awesome could that be!

I had to deal with two problems when it arrived. One was finding a place to hang it. Unfortunately I couldn't put it where I stamp because of the size. Honestly, it was larger then I thought it would be. But I did find a perfect place for it! Then the next problem was getting my dear husband to hang it. As some of us were chatting about this, one of our team (Hi Ashley!) mentioned she used Hercules Hooks (found mine at Bed, Bath and Beyond) and it was quick and easy. OH MY WORD...HOW TRUE...HOW TRUE!!! It took longer for me to find where my dear husband hid the level then it did for me to install it. QUICK AND EASY!

My favorite features of this system is that the ribbon is SO accessible! You lay the spools in the gutter (yes, it is a gutter...being the daughter of a roofer this I do know...it is a gutter) and you thread the ends of the ribbon under a metal rod. You receive decals to put on the front so that you can measure the ribbon right there! Now the ruler doesn't have numbers but just hash marks but it does work. There are even places on the side to put your scissors so everything is in one place!

If you are a true ribbon fanatic, one will NOT be enough. Trust me on this, too! It is a GREAT system for storing and accessing both your rolls of ribbon and those scraps that seem to duplicate like guppies on your desk top!

Definitely go with the Hercules Hooks if you want a quick and easy way to install. The Clip It Up! does come with screws if you want to use those

  4. Smart Ribbon Solution

    By Jeni Allen

I was so excited to see this great ribbon organizer! The concept of having around 40 spools of ribbon waiting on the wall to be used is so great! I love that the design of the Clip It Up! Ribbon Organizer allows you to first and foremost see your ribbon. I am a firm believer that if I'm going to use something it needs to be close to my workspace and I need to be able to see it (or else I might forget that it is there). Because organizing ribbon tends to be such a common problem for papercrafters of all types, this product will be a great addition to organization solutions.

The smart design of the Clip It Up! Ribbon Organizer allows you to either cut the ribbon off the spool and utilize the ruler-like stickers that can be placed on the body of the organizer and leave it neatly in its place in the organizer or you can take the spool out of the organizer use it and then have a place all ready for your spool to go home to. I love that my ribbon will stay nice and organized and each spool will have a home. No more tangled mess to sort through! Yea for the Clip It Up!

  5. Fabulously Functional

    By Angel Wilde

The top shelf of my craft room closet holds 13 clear plastic shoe boxes. That's one for every color of ribbon I own. It's effective, but not productive. Sometimes it's impossible for me to find the perfect ribbon for a project. And sometimes it's just too much trouble.

When the Clip It Up! Ribbon Organizer arrived on my doorstep, I was beside myself excited. The instructions were easy to follow and with the necessary hardware included in the package, it took only a few minutes to get it mounted on the wall above my desk. It took a little longer to decide which ribbons I would actually put inside the organizer. In the end, 53 of my ribbon rolls fit inside and 40 additional lengths were "clipped up". Simply Renee thought of everything when she included the built-in scissor caddy and 1 foot measuring stickers to aid in ribbon cutting. I love these aspects.

For me there were a few downsides. The first - only a fraction of my ribbons actually fit into the organizer and it does not appear to be expandable. But, most of my favorites are nicely within arms reach. Secondly, the metal clips marred my ribbon lengths by leaving teeth marks. My solution? I'll be wrapping those pieces around cardboard from here on out.

I love organizing tools and storage solutions and the Clip It Up! Ribbon Organizer does not disappoint. It's fabulously functional. With my ribbon more accessible and right at my fingertips, I am already using it more often!

  6. Tame Your Ribbon Collection

    By Beate Johns

With all the pretty ribbon around, it's easy to pick up a few spools here and there. Before you know it, though, you're stashing it in drawers, on shelves, and out of sight. . . . and going back to the store to get more instead of digging through what you have to find the right ribbon. The Clip It Up! Ribbon Organizer helped this ribbon hoarder be a ribbon user again. By storing frequently reached for ribbon right above a work surface, it's easy to see what I have so I will actually use it.

Right out of the box, the Ribbon Organizer was ready to go. I added two of the three provided measurement decals to the outside, filled it with spools of ribbon and my special ribbon scissors, and that was that. Since wall space is at a premium in my crafting area, I placed it over a large shelving unit in my stamp room. Once I can rearrange again, it will be mounted under my shelves and used as it was intended. I think it works even like this, but am excited at the prospect of hanging it up, getting packages of embellishments out into the open where I can see them, and using my ribbon.

One thing to think about when considering a Ribbon Organizer of your own: If you have lots of spools of ribbon, you may want to get a few of these for your collection. It comfortably stores and displays many rolls, but hardly made a dent in my collection. I'm going to need another one (or two), and am sure it will be worth the investment and look fabulous on my stamp room wall, too!

This ribbon organizer sounds wonderful.  Where can I get it and how much is it?  I would need the 36” size.

Thanks.

Lorraine Jackman   |  Wed Jun 24, 2009 at 9:40 AM

I too would like to know where I can get the Clip it up! Ribbon Organizer and what is the cost for the 36”.

Thank you.

Joyce   |  Wed Jun 24, 2009 at 10:23 AM

Where can you get these Clip it up organizers..and how much?? I’m afraid I’d need a few.

Debbie   |  Wed Jun 24, 2009 at 10:26 AM

Does it hold the 1/4 inch stampin Up ribbon rolls.  I find those hard to hold as they seem a lot taller than the rest?

Mary   |  Wed Jun 24, 2009 at 10:27 AM

http://www.clipitup.com/ribbon.html

Just searched for it and found this.  Boy $80 is expensive.  I do the snap and stack at $7 a piece and thought that was bad.  OH well guess it just went off my list unless M starts selling it and I have a 50% off.

Mary   |  Wed Jun 24, 2009 at 10:33 AM

Hi~ Organized ribbon pieces that are not on a roll. Great idea. Now if you don’t have a craft room, like me, any ideas for those of us that have to store our supplies in containers and put them away. I am thrilled just to have a walk in closet and some cabinets to store my stuff. Right now I just have them loosely wound up and secured with a coated paper clip and stored in a plastic shoe box. Any better ideas? Thanks, Jan

Jan   |  Wed Jun 24, 2009 at 10:43 AM

Hi all -

Pricing and links to purchase can be found on the right column of the review page. smile

Jan, Clip It Up does make a 18” model of this ribbon organizer. Would this work for your walk in closet?

Lori Craig   |  Wed Jun 24, 2009 at 10:45 AM

Lori~ I will get the tape measure out and give it a try but I think I would be giving up precious shelving space to do that. Its a small walk in closet. Everything I have is in clear containers and labeled. Thanks.

I bought this when it first came out.  LOVE. IT.  To Mary who asked about the 1/4” SU Ribbon rolls, no.  They do not fit.  Unless you use your circle scissor to make a template and cut them down, which I have done to mine.  It’s a pain, but they fit now!

Lisa (crazycatstamper)   |  Wed Jun 24, 2009 at 11:24 AM

Just got the information on line here this morning and could not get the details quick enough as I am an organised freek and wanted to get one ASAP. Been looking fror options for ribbon and found nothing what would work.
Alas, I am a SU demonstrator and the 1/4” robbon rolls not fitting lost me - what a big shame - for such a small adjustment to get us demonstrators buying up big. Do not want to fiddle like Lisa.
Will keep looking.

Jenny cooper   |  Wed Jun 24, 2009 at 1:23 PM

I absolutly LOVE my Clip-it-Up ribbon organizer. I am way anal/OCD and so everything I do has to be in rainbow order. smile My wall looks so pretty with all my ribbon lined up where I can see it.
Also, to the person that asked if the 1/4” ribbons fit…they dont fit as well as the others, but I still put mine in there, they are just turned very slightly. smile

donna   |  Wed Jun 24, 2009 at 9:35 PM

What about fading and dust?  I know I even have be sure I don’t leave my papers exposed very long or I will get fade marks.

I had some ribbons exposed and the ribbon on the outside of the roll had faded.

If I got one I guess I would get out the trusty sewing machine and make a cover.

Phyllis Strickland   |  Thu Jun 25, 2009 at 7:55 AM

Ooooh!  I SO want one of these!  How COOL!!  Off to check em’ out!

Jodi Collins   |  Thu Jun 25, 2009 at 3:18 PM

This is a great product, but for under $5 look at the great shelf at http://www.mediashelving.com you could have 10 shelves for the price of one of the clip it up organizers.

Peggy   |  Sun Jun 28, 2009 at 3:04 PM

I have and love this ribbon organizer! I got the large one and it works very well for me, best ribbon storage I have tried yet, and believe me I have tried many! The only offending thing is the price of this spruced up rain gutter wink If you can catch it with a good coupon, go for it. It is very well thought out and very functional!

Etha   |  Wed Jul 1, 2009 at 7:21 AM

I just bought this and OMG!  It is sooooo wonderful.  Thanks for the heads up on the clip grips!  I just got it for $56 on clipitup.com.  Great price!  My husband even commented how easy it was to install!

Julie   |  Sun Jul 5, 2009 at 3:02 PM

Could you organize your SU! 1/4 grosgrain ribbon spools by CLIPPING them underneath? Just clip the alligator clip to the edge of the spool and let it dangle. Or would they tilt and ribbon start to unspool?

Holly Jones   |  Sun Aug 23, 2009 at 9:49 PM

I ordered the 36” ribbon organizer about 3 months ago and I absolutely LOVE it!  I even use the clips underneath to display some of my favorite cards inside of clear envelopes.  It really finished off my craft area!

Emily   |  Tue Sep 22, 2009 at 11:15 AM

Love my ribbon organizer.  I filled it in no time flat.  Now I need another!  Holly- the SU 1/4 grosgrain spools will fit, however, I didn’t snap on the plastic piece on the organizer to cover up the holes and screws to hang it on the wall.  All of mine fit, that ribbon was the reason I needed an organizer.
