  1. Wrap and Send

    By Bev Rousch

When I received the Kreate-A-Lope templates in the mail I was so excited. Sending cards in plain white envelopes can sometimes be pretty anticlimactic after paper crafting our little pieces of art. You kind of pop a stamp (or two) on the envie, hope it gets there and that the recipient will know it's not junk.

I like the idea of making your own envelopes for a lot of reasons: You use papers that you already have, and it presents your craft in a unique way, by doing so it makes your cards feel that much more special. I also like the idea of cards being beautiful as they're passed along on their way to their destination.

I watched the video on their website that showed how to use the templates, and by the time the video was done, I'd already made 3 envelopes. Super simple to understand and follow.

You can use thin magazine paper, medium designed paper, and thicker card stock. I found that using my bone folder to guide thicker card stock into the folds really made nice clean edges for the envelopes.

I like that the Kreat-A-Lope templates come in several sizes so you can make whatever sized card you want and still make a custom envelope. I would like to also point out how easy the Kreate-A-Lope templates are to store. I like that this isn't one more clunky stamping item I have to find a place for in my craft space. I can slide these templates in my templates files and they take up all of zero space.

These templates are geniusly designed and I'm so happy to send my cards off in style.

  2. Envelopes - The New Folded Art

    By Amanda Havon

I love making cards, it's my favorite hobby! But, my approach is completely organic starting with just an idea and not a standard card size. That leaves me with some very unique sized cards that I need to find envelopes for. Imagine my excitement when I got the Kreate-a-lope Envelope templates. I can tailor my cards any way I want to, but still be assured that I can find an envelope that they will fit into.

Let's talk about how they work, shall we? All you need is the appropriately sized envelope template, a piece of patterned paper and glue. That's it! No scissors, knives, guillotines, or paper cutting devices. Have I perked your interest yet?

To create your envelope place the "window" template on your paper until you like what shows up in the open "window" space, then rip your paper all around the template, carefully keeping the template in place. Flip your paper over keeping it lined up just the way you want the pattern the show up on the front of the envelope. Then place and center the coordinating color square in the center of the window, remove the window template and start folding the sides in first, smoothing the sides with a bone folder, then fold up the bottom half of the envelope (the side without the point). Add some glue to the parts that are covered by the bottom fold to secure your envelope from opening up. And you're done, just like that quick and simple!

What a handy and unique tool to have in your scrap space!! They hardly take up any room, they're light weight, completely flexible and my favorite part is the sizes are clearly marked on both coordinating template pieces! There is no mistaking that this little gem is a new favorite tool!

  3. Kreate-a-lope Wow!

    By Teresa Kline

I have been wanting a envelope kit for a long time, Kreate-a-lope is the one! I really like being able to custom design an envelope for my cards, makes the gift extra special. The Kreat-a-lope product is super simple to use and understand. The convenience of being be able to tear around the template is a great feature and works wonderfully, I do prefer a cleaner edge so I used my cutting tool instead. It can easily be done either way and does not change the outcome of the envelope.

With Kreate-a-lope the possibilities are endless, I created the biggest envelope with a pleat in the bottom. A pleated envelope would work great in scrapbooks, just adhere the envelope to a page and add those extra keepsake papers and souvenirs inside the envelope. I created the pleat by adding the next smaller insert piece inside and then scored so that it folds nicely.

I like the versatilely of the sizes, but for me personally I prefer the smaller sizes over than the larger ones. Smaller square sizes are so fun, 3x3's and 5x5's. Another pro is the extremely affordable price, every craft room should have them all!

To sum up my review of the Kreate-a-lope; an affordable, easy and fun way to personalize your cards and projects.

  4. Guilt-free and Envelope Happy!

    By Judy Rozema

So I know there are more of you out there. Yes, you. Paper Addict. And like me, you have felt guilty about all that 12x12 paper that you have that you are hoarding or haven’t used since 6x6 came on the market. I mean the five foot high drawers all against that one wall. Yep. Well, no need to carry that guilt around any longer. I have found the PERFECT solution and am so excited to share it with you!

Now I may have had a little dry humor in the previous paragraph, but let me tell you, I am excited and totally serious about how much I LOVE the Kreate-a-lope Envelope Maker! Every card maker that sends or gives cards needs to have one of these. In fact, I have three more sets ready to order to give as gifts to my card-making family.

I love the variety in envelope sizes that are available and the sturdiness of the plastic. The directions are clear and easy to follow, even for this “visual” person! The website for the video is on the instruction sheet, but I didn’t have to watch it to know what to do. For me, that is a huge accomplishment right there!

For the first envelope that I made, I tore the paper against the Sizing Template, but decided with the paper weight I was using that I liked a smoother edge, so then chose the option of tracing and cutting with my paper cutter. Still easy peasy and fast. I used adhesive tape to close the bottom and the Lick & Stick Envelope glue (gluten-free even!) for the top flap. FABULOUS!

Maybe you are one of those “old-time” crafters like me who has several books of wallpaper samples waiting to be used. The Kreate-a-lope is perfect for using with wallpaper too!

I was just recently asked to sell my cards in a gift shop, and was in a quandary as to how to have envelopes for all of them and not spend all my profit just providing envelopes (they are expensive!). What a timely and practical solution to my dilemma when the Kreate-a-lope arrived in my mailbox! There are so many template sizes available on their website I plan to add to my collection to have them all!

I enthusiastically recommend that you go right now to their site and order a set for yourself!

  5. Quick and easy envelopes!

    By Beate Johns

I was excited when the Kreate-a-lope templates arrived for review. I love to send out cards and am always looking for good envelope sources. How fun to have a tool that makes creating your own envelopes a breeze!

I used the templates with copy and patterned paper. They are made out of milky plastic that let you position and pick just the right spot on your patterned paper. You can rip the paper on the edge of the template. I think most of you know that I am a bit of a "neat freak". After I tore the edges on the first couple of envelopes, I decided that I liked cutting my paper the right size before folding the envelope. I just traced the template and then used my paper cutter to cut the paper.

I like that the templates have guidelines telling you where the paper will overlap. If you decide to stamp and decorate your paper before folding the envelope, you know where you can leave the paper blank.

The templates come in a lot of different sizes making sure there is one for everyone. I can't wait to use some of my "spare" (no, I am not a hoarder, I collect!!!) 12" x 12" paper to create gorgeous envelopes.

Questions and Comments

I LOVE Kreate-a-lopes! Bought the first template for standard cards years ago, then later bought a set with additional sizes. I used them to make 100 invitations for my sons wedding (11 years ago) and had all the sizes I needed for the mailing, inner, and response envelopes. I was able to use “custom” paper rather than stock, store-bought plain vanilla envelopes, and the big job was so easy with the templates. I saved so much time and hassle, I was able to cut my own cardstock templates for liners and add them before the final folding. I recommend this product HIGHLY—say, at least a 15 on a scale of 1 to 10!

My husband bought a set of these templates for me several years ago.  They are wonderful.  You can use any paper your imagination can come up with and it’s very easy to do.

I have all these templates from Green Sneakers.  I’ve had mine ever since I started stamping and went to my first convention in Cleveland OH. back in 1983.  I love them and are so simple to use, you can put any thing in the middle of these templates and will come out to where you want your picture to be.  They are simple to use.

I bought this set years ago on QVC and had forgotten all about it.  I’ll have to pull it out again.  It really IS easy to use and a funy way to use up old calendar pages, phone books, etc. to make your own snazzy envelopes.
