Flower Soft® is launching its innovative new Ultra Fine range in eight exciting new colors at the CHA Show, but we gave the Splitcoast Product Focus team some sneak peek samples.
This new Flower Soft Ultra Fine range gives crafters the ability to use the 3D-effect product on much more detailed, finer designs, allowing them to be even more creative in how and when they use the product. This exciting new product works perfectly with adhesive sheets and tapes to create perfectly geometric designs such as textured borders and frames. For stampers who love furry friends, Ultra Fine is purrfect as it creates the most realistic fur. If the long winter months have you scrapping your last beach holiday then you will be amazed at the results you can achieve by adding Sand Ultra Fine to your page. The possibilities are endless - all you need is to sprinkle a little imagination!
Available February 2010, it will be sold in 20 ml jars containing approximately 5 g of product (depending on the color). The suggested manufacturer's retail price is $3.99.
Available in eight exciting colors: Raspberry Fizz (mixed color), Citrus Crush (mixed color), Sand, Koala Grey, Sage, Black, Strawberry and Toffee.
Flower Soft Ultra Fine is tiny little colored sprinkles that are easy to use. The finer sprinkles make it easy to add touchable texture to detailed images and make realistic looking fur, sand, grass, and even food. Flower Soft Ultra Fine comes in eight new colors that complement the 26 original colors. Just apply glue to an image, sprinkle Flower Soft on, and let dry.

Fast, Fuzzy and Fabulous!
By Joanne Travis
I love the texture and vibrant color the Flower Soft Ultra Fine adds to a project. The colors are so rich and the mixes are so pretty and perfect for florals.
I store my Flower Soft in small, square, clear containers with their color name labels taped to the front. These are stackable and make it easy to find the color you are looking for at a glance. This storage method also lets you sprinkle the Flower Soft onto your project right over the container without the additional mess. I keep a sheet of waxed paper close by and will use this under larger projects. The waxed paper avoids the static cling that you get with the embossing trays.
You will want to make sure you use plenty of the glue. If it is too thinly applied, the product won't stick very well. For larger areas I spread the glue out evenly with a paint brush for full coverage. Pour on the Flower Soft and gently smoosh it down. I like to let mine dry thoroughly before knocking the additional Flower Soft off of the project. You can always go back and add a bit more to any bare spots after it is completely dried. I like to work with just one color at a time. Try to let the project dry completely before moving on. I usually smudge it off by trying to work with it too soon.
I really enjoyed working with the Flower Soft Ultra Fine. I love this product for flocking, it is so much fun and very easy to include some warm fuzzies with your greeting. Two thumbs up!
First and Fine!!!
By Joanne Grzelak
I entered into the experience [first Flower Soft review] with some trepidation, as I have eye issues and often avoid working with products like glitter because it always sticks to things and eventually finds its way into my eyes. I am so happy to say that this Flower Soft product does not have that property so those of you who avoid glitter will probably be fine with this product.
The Flower Soft Ultra Fine adds a subtle and clean texture to the areas where it is applied. In real life it really does add a nice dimension to your card/project. Because it is so fine, it can be applied to small areas with a clean, crisp result. This does not always show very well in a photograph. I honestly will use it often in scenes especially ones with small floral images, sand, grasses. I loved the depth it added to the ground on one image I applied it to. I tried using it for shading on a larger image, but will probably need more practice on that.
My only issue in using this product was really more with the application of the glue rather than the Ultra Fine itself. I finally used the tip of a straight pin and a toothpick to apply the glue more precisely to where I wanted it.
Stampers will love the product and its subtle textural and dimensional finish. The possibilities are endless.
Fine and Fabulous!

I had played with regular Flower Soft before, sometimes wishing it was finer, I was really excited to get to play with the new Flower Soft Ultra Fine. I dumped the product into empty storage containers from Stampin' Up! and it fit in great.
Like the regular Flower Soft, the Ultra Fine version creates wonderful 3D effects for cards. It adds the extra touch to your card and really finishes it off. The Flower Soft Glue is the perfect medium to adhere your Flower Soft to your cardstock. Apply your glue generously, sprinkle Flower Soft over it and press down a bit, tap off excess and let dry. Very easy, just a bit messy. Make sure you have an extra piece of paper underneath your work area to catch the extra Flower Soft and put it back in its container.
Because the colors will cover up your stamped image, you will have to be careful not to apply your glue over the stamped lines. Detailed stamps with thicker outlines will work best. I received a stamp set from Flower Soft's new Moments in Time series. The image is beautiful and the outlines have just the right thickness. I can't wait to purchase more of these stamps.
I played a bit and found that because this new Flower Soft is so fine, you can also use Scor-Tape™ with it. Just sprinkle it over the tape, pack down and you have a great fuzzy faux ribbon! I love all the colors it comes in and can't wait to play with it more.
Great Way to Add Texture!
By Kerri Michaud
This was my first experience with Flower Soft. I had seen the product but wasn’t sure if it would fit into my style of stamping as I don’t tend to use a lot of detailed, floral images. I do, however, love to add texture to my cards so I was excited to try it out!
I received eight colors: Sand, Toffee, Strawberry, Raspberry Fizz, Black, Citrus Crush, Koala Grey, and Sage. When I saw the Strawberry Ultra Fine sample I set out to create a Valentine card. I used an image that was holding a flower basket and had flowers in her hair. As soon as I added the Flower Soft High Tack PVA Glue, and sprinkled the product on the image, I was sold! The instant texture looked fantastic! After that I wanted to try it on something other than flowers, so I stamped a heart image, cut it out, covered it with the glue, and sprinkled more Strawberry Ultra Fine to cover the heart. I absolutely loved the flocked look it gave the heart!
I also received a Flower Soft Moments in Time stamp called Best Friends. What an adorable image and the grassy area was just begging to be covered with some Sage Ultra Fine Flower Soft. The results were fabulous! It truly made the grass look real!
My only cons with this product are that when I was trying to cover a larger area with the thick Flower Soft glue, my hand would get quite tired. Smaller areas were not a problem for me. Also, trying to get the Flower Soft Ultra Fine back into the little packets can be quite tricky. At first I was using a bowl to catch the product, but I was having a hard time getting it from the bowl back into the packaging. Next I tried to sprinkle it over a sheet of copy paper, and that worked better because I could fold it and funnel it back into the packets. [Editor's Note: The Product Focus team received sample-sized packets and not the full-sized pots of Ultra Fine. The product will be packaged in screw-top containers.]
If you love adding texture to your projects, then try it out! I think you will be thrilled with the results!
Everything Blooms with Flower Soft!
By Carolina Buchting
If you are looking for a soft and delicate touch to add to your projects or cards, then the new Ultra Fine version of Flower Soft is just the embellishment you need. Unlike the original Flower Soft version, this one is much finer and the final look is a little bit more delicate. My passion is 3D items, so I wanted to see what mediums I could use it on and then tried it on some stamped images as well.
It works amazing on chipboard, plastic and paper. I was quite generous with the glue since typically 3D items get touched and handled a lot. It took about a day to completely dry and I’m happy with the results.
It did not work as well on metal, even after I sanded the metal, it kept coming off after sufficient drying time. Perhaps a metal glue might. Iwill have to pick some up to give it a try. It did work well on Styrofoam, but had to work fast to make sure I was able to get as much of the Flower Soft onto the Styrofoam.
As for a card, I used several stamped images to try Flower Soft Ultra Fine, it worked best on bold images or as bit of accents here and there. Loved how much a little gives a big punch.
Much like glitter, Flower Soft carries and tends to get everywhere. I dumped each of the colors into their own individual container. I used mini round Glad Ware containers with lids. I taped the name of each color to the outside of the container for easy reference. I still suggest you use a mat or something under whatever you’re working on for easy clean-up.
The only thing I wish for is a variety of tips for the glue bottle. I ended up cutting the tip down so that I could use it more free flowing and that resulted in me having to use a toothpick for more intricate parts.
If you’re into adding dimensions and that wow factor to your projects and cards, make sure to pick up several colors of Flower Soft Ultra Fine!
Ultra Fine Flower Soft is Ultra Cool!
By Michelle Burress
I had so much fun playing with the new Flower Soft Ultra Fine. I had used the original Flower Soft in the past as well as white. While I was happy with the outcome, the Ultra Fine is so much easier to work with! I love the texture and 3D effect it gave to my images.
I did find the glue rather thick and hard to work with. It wasn't easy to spread around to get in tight places even working with a toothpick. I found myself wanting to reach for my glue pen many times. Because of this, I thought I would try a little experiment with other glue adhesives and found that the Flower Soft glue, while more difficult to apply, held the Flower Soft sprinkles much better and gave a more noticeable 3D effect. I did have to add the Flower Soft a few times in some spots to get a good coverage. This generally happened in the smaller, tighter spots where I wasn't able to spread the glue as well I would have liked.
A word of caution when applying the Flower Soft sprinkles, much like glitter, you will have little bits all over the place, so it is best to work with it on top of a sheet of paper or tray underneath to contain it. Also like glitter, you can put the excess back into its container to use again so a little should go a long way.
I would definitely recommend the Flower Soft Ultra Fine to anyone who wants to add a little more texture and dimension to their projects.
