Spellbinders Love To Keep Us Spellbound!
By Amanda Havon
Spellbinders. Just that name gets me excited about all the possibilities! Chances are, you already own a Spellbinder die set or two, but what makes them so special? Spellbinders are known for their quality dies, customer service and ease of use for any project. For me, it's the variety of shapes, sizes and the intricate details they offer; Spellbinders new spring release has all that and more!
Spellbinders newest release offers us a collection of 5x7 dies, which is perfect! They are a great bridge between the classic and the grand size dies. If you are new to Spellbinders and want to incorporate some into your cardmaking, these are perfect to get started with for effortless looking cards. I received the Enchanted Labels, Elegant Labels and the Detailed Scallops sets and I found them quite easy to mix and match together, creating unique cards each time.
Spellbinders is a company that offers a creative approach on their products, keeping us all in awe and coming back for their unique and beautiful dies! I am a life long fan, and I think you will be too if you haven't tried them yet. If you do have Spellbinders, this release will help add that distinctive touch of beauty to your cards and projects!
Larger Dies = Versatility and CARD magic!
By Judy Rozema
I was so excited when the Spellbinders Grand dies came out, and I am equally excited for this new 5" x 7" size too! Although I don’t do a lot of scrapbooking, I know that those that do will also love these sizes for layouts. They are perfect!
I like making shaped cards, and I don’t have any kind of electronic cutting machine, so these new larger dies allow for that as well. The matting basics are perfect for all the layers that I like to make on my cards and make it so easy to do techniques such as Triple Stamping.
I love how the labels fit together to make beautiful layers in their own way, and how they coordinate with other Spellbinders products already out there (5 x7 Elegant Labels Four with Labels Four, for instance).
You can make an entire gorgeous creation just from using the layered dies in that set. I love their new little formula: Choose your design, Assemble your pieces, Refine the details and you’re Done!
I have always been amazed at the ease with which the Spellbinders dies cut and emboss and these are no exception. I love this new size!
Spellbinders does it again!
By Beate Johns
If you know me, you know I LOVE Spellbinders dies. Ever since they came out with their first Nestabilities dies, I have been a fan and avid collector! So you can imagine how excited I was to be able to review the new 5" x 7" Matte Basics and Decorative Card Creator dies. I loved the first A2 size of the Card Creator dies and was sure I would love this size as well. And, I do.
I do love them. While I am not in the habit of making 5" x 7" size cards, the Matte Basics are a wonderful rectangle size to use for many images. Plus you don't have to use the largest of the dies if you don't want to make a card that big. The great thing is that you have that option, if you do.
As always, the dies match together perfectly, and they work well with some of the label dies that are already out there (and that some of us "collectors" already own).
Needless to say that I am in love! I am in love with the shape of the die templates, in love with the cut and embossed pieces that you create with them and in love with finding new ways to combine the new dies with the dies I already have. Two thumbs up for Spellbinders. They never disappoint.
Spellbinders, Stylish Cutting!
By Teresa Kline
I was thrilled to see that we would be reviewing a new Spellbinders product! I have always been happy with Spellbinders, and the new 5x7 cutting dies where no different. There are so many ways you can use this size; cards of course, tags, mini albums and decorations. I immediately thought of a mini album because it is such a fun size to journal a weeks vacation. I created the one that you can see in the Product Focus gallery. I also wanted to use them for cards and tags. I reach for Spellbinders die most of the time when creating cards and tags. I am delighted to add these to my ever growing collection.
The dies with intricate cuts and detailing are new to me. At first, I had a hard time removing the gorgeous design that I cut with a few of these. I found the answer! If I run just the die and a piece of wax paper though my machine before cutting....they come out perfect! When I am cutting with designer paper, I also shim with a piece of thicker watercolor paper and then turned the plates 90 degrees and ran it through a second time...perfect! I was amazed at how easy the dies cut and the paper popped away from the die each time after running them through with wax paper; a big difference!
Spellbinders is always a win-win when you are in your studio. I would recommend these 5x7 dies as well as all other Spellbinders for all your creating projects.

Having a few Spellbinders dies already, and knowing their high quality, I was excited to get to review the new designs! It's simple to run them through your machine and come out with stunning cuts that add so much to your projects. I'll admit, I still get excited each time I see them roll out of my machine.
The rectangles are the perfect sizes for larger cards. I like that I can emboss the the rectangles to give an added dimension on it's edge. They are perfect for layering with the other Spellbinders dies too.
I love the new intricate designs of the Shapeabilities. I found that using thicker paper works best for popping the paper out of the cut die, so when I used designer paper, I glued it down to cardstock and then cut the die shape. This made the delicate shapes sturdier for knocking the extra chads out of the cuts. Another bonus in that was when I wanted to sponge the edges of the cuts, the paper was sturdy enough to not rip easily, as it would have been if I'd not added an extra layer.
The overall effect of these cuts is beautiful and so detailed. I was showing my friends how to cut with them and they were stunned at how pretty they are. The dies really step up your cards with ease
