Our Artist in Residence answers your questions
Q: Louise wants to know: "What is a belly band?"
A: A belly band is a strip of paper that's wrapped around a card or box to keep it closed, with adhesive that holds the strip into a ring. They're usually about an inch wide. Usually the seam or overlapped ends are covered by an embellishment or other small stamped panel that accents the design of the project.

Feedback From Past Tutorials
Lisa has a tip for making mini cards for an inspiring outreach in her community: "The question last week was what to do with 12" solid cardstock. Our crafting group has developed several community projects that we make 3" square encouragement cards for. One sheet of 12" solid cardstock yields 8 cards measuring 3"x 6", then fold! Each nursing/assisted living resident (550 in our county) receives a tray card for Easter, Mothers/Fathers Day, July 4th, Thanksgiving, and Christmas. Each child receiving supplemental food support via the backpack program gets a card of encouragement once a month (120 children). Our town has a "Santa float" that visits every subdivision during Christmas and they hand out 3,000 treat bags--each one with a Christmas greeting 3x3 card. So, if my math is correct, that is 7,190 cards (or 899 sheets of 12" paper)!!"
