Beate Johns answers your technique questions
Q: mom4sewing asked: "A while back someone posted a barn star that she had covered with various papers. I loved it and would like to cover one. How would you recommend doing this? Thanks."
A: I have never covered one before, but it looks like fun! I would first make myself templates for the star pieces out of copy paper, or if the star is too big, packing paper. Then, I'd use the templates to cut the patterned paper to the right size and adhere them to the star. Amy Westerman posted a gorgeous sample in our gallery. She used Tombo Mono® Metal Glue and linked to a site where she found the instructions.

Vmaduzia has a great tip to make your own sand/glitter mix for her cup cards: "I mixed about 1 tablespoon of Dazzling Diamonds glitter with about 1 tablespoon of playsand from my kids' backyard sandbox! I apply it like regular glitter, using a 2-way glue pen. You could probably use Crystal Effects, too, and smear it a bit."
