Q: Anne asked: "I like all the clear stamps that are out there, but I am having a hard time using them. My markers do not work on them and neither do a lot of my ink pads. I would like to get more use out of them but the only stamp pad I have been using with the clear stamps is my black Stazon. What else can I use to give me more color choices?"

A: When my clear stamps don't stamp sharp images, I condition them with a pencil eraser. That will let them grip the color better and help your markers and dye inks stick. I like to use Tuxedo Black Memento ink or Palette ink for outline stamps. For solid stamps I like to use chalk ink. I tend to get better coverage with these inks than with regular dye-based inks.

Jane has an alternate version for the Ink, Spray & Smash tutorial: "I did an Ink, Spray, Smash card for a swap at Convention. However, I did not use reinkers. I actually used ink pads. I used a protector sheet, slit up the side. I applied the light colors on one side and the darker colors on the other side, in a 'swish' motion (randomly over the protector sheet). I then spritzed the protector sheet on ONE side, closed the sheet and moved my fingers around the sheet to spread the ink. Open the protector sheet and put two pieces of glossy paper back to back on the sheet and close it. You can either use your fingers again or a brayer to spread the ink on to your cardstock. This makes a beautiful background and not one is the same."
