Ask Beate
Beate Johns answers your technique questions
Q: MsJoy asked: "How do you do a collage? Is there a technique?"
A: "Collage stamping is easy. This technique works especially well with nature and travel themes or vintage stamps. Stamp several images in a random pattern in different colors on a sheet of cardstock. Then stamp a few more coordinating images on additional cardstock and cut them out to layer them on top. Add embellishments like fibers, little charms and buttons. Sponging the cardstock edges great with this technique, too. Check out this beautiful collage card or browse our gallery for more collage samples."

Feedback From Past Tutorials
Colette has a great tip for the Shaving cream technique: "Beate, I love the shaving cream look but struggled with nice results using the faux technique. So I experimented with the real thing and found if I put a small squirt of shaving cream between the pages of an essay folder (the clear kind), squished the cream between the closed sheets, opened them and dripped in my reinkers, closed again and smooshed the mix around gently I got the effect I wanted without all the mess. Doing it this way I can get 2 pieces of cardstock (right sides out) each time. The shaving cream can be squished together 2-4 times more before needing to replenish. And clean up is sooo easy!"
