Why are there two newsletters today?
Well we goofed. If you've opened your newsletter from earlier and tried to click on a few of those ads from our marvelous advertisers you may have noticed they took you to a different company! That's our mistake. So now we've fixed it and sent it all over again.

Faux Silk |
|
According to Confucius, a Chinese princess discovered silk in 2640 BC when a silkworm cocoon dropped into her cup of tea. Real silk is made by taking many, many of these cocoons and unwinding them carefully to make long threads, then spinning the threads to make them thicker. Then the threads are woven to make the fine fabric we know as silk. Instead of cultivating silkworms, recreate the look is with supplies you surely have on-hand.
Supplies you'll need for this project
Glue stick or other adhesive
Neutral colored cardstock
Tissue paper
Stamps

Ask Beate
Beate Johns answers your technique questions
Q: Chris asked: "How is the faux distress resist technique done? You can view a sample of this technique here ."
A: It looks to me like a variation of the VersaMark® Resist/Ghosting technique. Start by stamping your image in VersaMark® on glossy cardstock. Let dry. Ink a brayer with a multi-colored pad and brayer over an entire piece of glossy cardstock. As an alternative to the brayer, use a sponge to apply ink over the cardstock. Wipe your cardstock with a paper towel to take off excess ink, then stamp the same image with Black Stazon® on your cardstock.

Sharon has a hint for the Altered Pop Top Container: ”For the cans with the rounded bottoms: use the safety can opener on the top and then use a Crystal Effects to glue the top back on. I’ve done it many times. Just let the glue dry at least overnight before you try to pop it open. I’ve use Progresso® and some of the Campbell’s® soup cans."
