Uploading Your Profile Picture

Profile pictures are small pictures of yourself that are displayed on your user profile.

Step-by-Step

  1. Step 1

Find a photo you would like to use. You will probably have to crop (resize) it using your computer's photo editing software.

The maximum allowable size of your custom image is 320 by 240 pixels or 64.0 KB (whichever is smaller). You will want to save it as a JPG/JPEG file, and your image resolution should be 72 pixels/inch.

  2. Step 2

Click on Welcome, Username on the top right of the screen.

    Hint:
You have to be logged in to see the site greet you like this.

  3. Step 3

You are now in your User Control Panel. Click on Edit Profile Picture (left-hand side).

Scroll down and click Edit Profile Picture.

  4. Step 4

If you want to use a picture from your computer, click on Browse.

  5. Safari users, click Choose File.

  6. Step 5

Click Save Changes and your Profile Picture will appear in your SCS Profile. You're done!

Follow these same steps if you want to change your current Profile Pic.

Note: When you make changes to your Profile (or changes to your Gallery uploads, for that matter), it takes the site a bit of time to "index" the changes. It's like to when you return a book to the library; it takes a bit of time for it to go back onto the shelf.

  7. Step 6

Whether you're browsing the Gallery or the Forums, you can view someone's Public Profile when you click on their name, then View Public Profile.

I’ve uploaded a picture of myself on my profile page but my picture is not showing up when I click on a card in my gallery. Can you help me fix this?

A profile picture (thatís the big picture of the two kids up above in this tutorial) will show on your profile page. The picture that would show up under your card in the gallery is called an avatar, and you can find info on those here:

Hope that helps!

Cannot get my picture to show at all.  How do I fix this?  it is in my profile.  I have re-uploaded it, etc. etc. but nothing works!Perhaps simplifying this process would make it easier, as I see others have this problem too. Would you please give me step by step instructions.  Thank you.

I’m having the same problem uploading a picture in my profile. I’ve done exactly what it says to do. Nothing seems to work.

I’m having picture problems too.  I uploaded my avatar and my profile pic, but they are not showing up in posts.  Can you please advise?
Thank you.

When I try to upload a photo, as soon as I click on “save changes”, I get the message, “upload of file failed”. I’ve checked the size of the photos I’ve tried and both are less than 5 KB.
