Snietje aka Anita is hosting this weeks teaparty at the suggestion of Kathy Flynn (an SCS newsletter reader). Kathy's friend Tana had a bad fall after trying to rescue her cat from the roof.
Tana loves flowers, silly animals and the colour purple. We are still in lockdown in my little corner of the world, so I don't need much encouragement to go shopping online. I googled "silly animal images"...there are heaps!!!
I bought this fun image from HettyClare (a few other images may have slipped into my shopping basket too). I don't usually look online to see how something has been coloured, but I was a bit stumped with the horse. I shamelessly copied the faintly coloured spots on the horse - no point in reinventing the wheel hey.
The image was printed on to copy paper, coloured with Prismacoloir pencils, Zest it pencil blend and a colourless blending pencil. Before fussy cutting I gently wiped a walnut stain distress ink foam blending tool over the image.
The background is from the terrific SCS tutorial "Outdoor Backgrounds" by West Aussie girl, Elizabeth Whisson. I did the sky and clouds as per the tutorial, I added Prismacolour pencils in the grass, as I didn't have quite the right coloured Copics.
After adhering the image to the background using a glue stick, I outlined everything with a T4 grey copic. This helps add a bit of dimension, but more importantly it helps disguise any little bits of dodgy fussy cutting - just run the marker on the image and the background.
Thanks very much for looking and I hope you get a chance to send paper hugs to Tana. Stay safe.

This is a fun card and sure to tickle a funny bone for Tana. Now you would think the purple dots would be the attention grabber but I have to say it is that horse's voluminous thighs that tickled my funny bone . . and she still got 1st place . . there is hope for me and my "saddle bag" Thighs!

Seriously funny that such a "big" horse would place 1st. Love everything about this scene -- from the scene you created to the wonderful coloring of the proud owner with her prouder horse. I'm glad you shamelessly colored the horse keeping the dots because they just add to the fun factor. I am sure Tana will be overjoyed when she opens this gem. Now, since I seem to do everything you and Polly do, I need to go check out that stamp company too. LOL.

Oh, I just love this, Susie. Love your coloring on the jockey's jacket. Your background looks amazing too. And that horse is a hoot and then some! Adding purple polka dots to him is so creative. Love the grass. Everything looks wonderful.

I left this open so that I could come back and comment after dinner without rushing. That is just so cute. It reminds me of the Thelwell cartoon books which my (horse-loving) younger sister had, and which I always loved. I think dotted ponies are the best .

Such a fun spotted horse. Indeed, there is no need to reinvent the wheel. I always look to see how the image has been used either on the package or the designers website! That is part of the purchase of the stamp!
