Maura is our hostess in the Color Challenge this week, and she has given us three bright colors to work with: Tempting Turquoise, Pumpkin Pie and Crushed Curry. The dessert option is Summer Delights. What could be more delightful than a summer's day at the beach with a cool umbrella drink for Mom and a Creamsicle for the kiddo?!?! And my card works perfectly for last Friday's Free For All Challenge, Beachy cards.
This week is a sad story with a happy ending for me. I had planned to cut out these adorable penguins with my Silhouette Portrait, and color them with Copics. My old Portrait had died, and I have a brand new one. Like an idiot, I downloaded the new software, and now I can't make it work. The new version is completely different, and I can't find any of the tools I need, or make adjustments that I want to make (and used to do with ease!). Hence this card, with no fussy cutting. In desperation, I started looking at Scan 'n Cut videos, and ended up placing my order this morning! Can't wait until the new machine gets here!
The other good news is that I forced myself to do a little watercoloring. I'm still a complete novice at it, but am trying to learn. I used reinkers, and diluted them with water in varying degrees to get the shading on my card. The ocean is a little bit of Tempting Turquoise and a lot of water.
This card is going to my great-nephew, who graduated from high school yesterday, and is getting ready for college in the fall.
I hope you can play along with us this week. Maura has chosen some beautiful colors. Remember, you can still join us even if you don't have these exact colors.
Use what you have in your stash that's close. Just don't add any additional colors. Remember the challenge is to create a card with the 3 colors that we give you. Plus neutrals of course - white-vanilla-black-gray or brown.
