I thought of his "The Nightingale" story where a Chinese emperor prefers the song of a mechanical bird to the song of the real nightingale. The nightingale is known for its powerful and beautiful song.
I don't have any nightingale images, but I know they are relatively small birds...so I used a PowerPoppy chickadee digi image and used watercolors to color it. Afraid the chickadee's chirping doesn't compare to the nightingale's song. ; )

This little chickadee is so adorable and your watercoloring is so fabulous! I would frame this and hang it in my house, if I received a card this beautiful!

Sallie, you create the most amazing watercolors! I feel like I'm looking out my window on a snowy day. Chickadees are such sweet, friendly birds, one of my favorites too!

How beautiful!! I love the soft water coloring of the chickadee......one of my favorites of the little birds. Another of your wonderful cards that should be framed!!

As I type this, there are chickadees on my bird feeder outside my study window - even if not nightingales, they are adorable little birds. You coloured yours perfectly - also the lovely berries!

I love the power poppy image you used and wowza what a great coloring you did with it too. I bet your nightingale sings beautifully for the Chinese Emperor. Thank you so much for creating such a stunning card for my challenge.
