While out of town I spotted this fantastic original pencil sketch in an art gallery. I went in to see if the artist perhaps made note cards of her work. I took the opportunity to browse her phenomenal paintings and sketches. She did not make copies of her work. I really wanted to color this image, but of course the original is large. Lisa Starr offered to sell me the sketch and to lower her price, removed it from the frame. I asked how she felt if I used this to make a card. Her reply, " I'd be honored." These were a joy to color since her sketch was so detailed. This card is going to Lisa as a thank you for allowing me to use her art! She's also a stamper.
I used Spectracolor and Caran d' Arch pencils to color.
I had some difficulty getting a good photo. This appears more saturated than it really is.

Nancy, the image is beautiful. That was so kind of her to allow you to use it and of course you did it justice with your amazing pencil colouring. I'm sure she will love it

Nancy, this is gorgeous! I love ALL of your work, and I especially love these birds...and what a joy to have been able to purchase this sketch! Wow! I so love your hand stitching and must try it sometime. It adds a beautiful finishing touch! Wonderfully done, my friend! Hugs!
