I received this stamp earlier today and wanted to play with it. I love their stance and when they fly overhead, but HATE that they hunt my Koi. Tip: a beach ball in the pond has kept them from my pond the last 3 years. YAY!!
I have only attempted no-line watercoloring once before, and tried again with this. It didn't work out well. I used mostly distress inks and after allowing to dry (and trying to add detail back in) I decided to ink up the image, first the tree trunk (vintage photo), then the Heron (hickory smoke) in order to add the details again.
I also realized one of the panels from my earlier sketch challenge was wrong, oops, so decided to try again.
*Stamped SU card base w/SU Canvas bg
*Used SSS Smile die and MFT dies for the circle and image panels
You know, even with a ton of errors, I was still able to salvage this and will still send it out, eventually.
Thank you for commiserating with me!

I echo the sentiments that this is a superb card. I love the slightly diffused look to parts of the water color. It is just the right places. The image is gorgeous and now I want yet another stamp. And I love seeing that canvas background come out of hibernation now and then. It works so well with this image!

They are such stately birds, aren't they. And then in flight they almost look prehistoric, I always think. This image is lovely, and beautifully coloured. It's a much nicer setting than where I normally see them on the mud flats at low tide, with the occasional abandoned shopping cart and traffic cone, LOL. Glad you found a way to save the koi.
