This is for IC549 Abstract Art challenge and an Abstract Art Pinterest page was our inspiration site today. I have to admit I am much more traditional in my love of art and so today's abstract art took me out of my comfort zone. With that said I ended up creating a project that is more traditional than abstract with the rolling ocean waves made with embossing paste and embellished with gold embossing. I really did love seeing much of the art and was inspired by two pieces. The Texture with Gold and Tide.
I used a small palette to apply the embossing paste over the darker blue area to create the appearance of sea foam. I wanted to try adding gold to the paste after it dried so I applied versa reinker straight out of the bottle to several places and then applied gold embossing powder. Using the bottle to apply the versa was a mistake and caused the gold to look blobby. I should have lightly painted on versa with a brush. I believe I would have gotten a much softer and finer gold finish if I had. I gold embossed one large seabird to add another element of gold and to fill in the sky space and draw the eye up from the heaviness of sea foam.
Thanks for a great challenge Audrie. The abstract art inspiration pushed me off center some. I enjoyed myself very much.

Wow, I love the serenity of the waves and seagull and then the colors, textures, and overall design just leave me awestruck!
