I bought this little metal thing from Michaels. I have no clue what it's intended purpose is, but when I saw it, I knew I could hang something from it.

That "metal thing" is a tapestry rod. A miniature replica of course. Tapestry rods are generally 3 feet wide and on up, according to the width of the tapestry. You used it correctly, this is just adorable. I love it! I've never seen one done in a card before.

Curtain rod for a dollhouse? Nope-it was clearly made for YOUR card. BeaUUUTi-ful!!
added---I didn't see that it is a tapestry rod for a dollhouse when I posted-I open the cards all at once so it wasn't there. So I am a good guesser I suppose.
