Mary is our hostess this week, and she has challenged us with the colors, Lost Lagoon, Hello Honey and Basic Gray. The dessert option is a masculine card.
Cards for guys are so hard for me, and yet we always need them! I started with embossing paste and a circle stencil over white cardstock . This gives a texture and kinda rough surface. When the paste was dry, I sponged the three colors of ink over the surface in a diagonal path. The embossing paste resists the color, but the cardstock doesn't. I think that makes for an interesting background. I layered this over Hello Honey and then onto a card base of Lost Lagoon.
To finish it off, I die cut the happy birthday from Hello Honey cardstock, glued it on, and covered with clear Wink of Stella. A few silver stars finished my card, or so I thought. The greeting looked lost--I don't know quite why--but it didn't show up well at all. So I cut it again in Lost Lagoon, stacked it on top of the Hello Honey greeting, slightly offset, and covered that layer with Wink of Stella, too. I love that stuff! So while I was playing, I covered the mat edges with it, as well.
Thanks for stopping by, and please play along with us this week!

Great CAS design. Brilliant idea to use the embossing paste to give you a design. Had no idea that the paste resists coloring. Thanks for sharing your technique.

I really like to draw and see color gradients in pattern especially at an angle like yours. I have only been SCS a few months. I will definitely have to step up my game. Great job!
