I just had to upload another card for the Mixed Media challenge today. After seeing Maura (beesmom) use this color layering stamp, I just had to order it. Love it!
I stamped the branch, then leaves, next the bird and then the feet/legs.
The border was made using Frog Tape for masking. I love that item and found out about it on Lydia's (UnderstandBlue) blog. She has the best tips. No seepage of colors when using it.
I used both Distress Stains and Distress Inks on the bird and Stain for the border.

Love this Brenda, sponging only half of the background gives the perfect emphasis on the bird in white. What a pretty bird she is too... she has a velvety look and I just want to touch it... Have a wonderful holiday weekend. Hugs

Beautiful - I love how you repeated the colors on both sides. I can never have enough bird stamps... I just got the set from Prima by Jamie Daugherty - they're gorgeous. Thanks so much for playing along with me!
Question on the Frog Tape - did you have any problem getting it to come up cleanly without hurting the paper? I've only used it once but it tore my paper. However I did put it over an already inked paper and it was not heavyweight so I'm thinking that was probably the problem but it makes me hesitate to use it again. Did you de-stick it before using? I love this card so much - would like to do something similar but I have a fear of Frog Tape now ;-)
