better go get on the VSN train this weekend! Here's your ticket. 14 different challenges, friends, chats, whatcha waiting for????
My card covers two challenges today, Dr. Sonja's 'Turn Up the Heat' in the VSN and the IC537 Google it! (yet another amazing inspiration site Audrie found.
The Turn up the heat challenge was many different ways you could use embossing to create a card. I had never tried the Hot Glue Embossing, so that is the direction I went. Looking over the Google it! inspiration, I never got past this Audrey Hepburn'ish image. And the collusion of these challenges was going to happen. What FUN!!!
The rest of the story is pretty simple...fussy cut the pattern girl so I could gage the size of my g* girl. Freehanded the letters with the black hot glue. Waited for it to dry and then sprinkled Brushos onto paper, spritzed with a mini mister let it set a sec and took a paper towel and twisted the colors together. The pattern you should be able to see is actually courtesy of the Brawney man! I was so pleased. Colored nails and lips on the girl with Copics and added that bluish spot of color on her pill box hat...there was the same color showing in the background (happy, happy Brushos serendipity). Added the pearl buttons (colored with Copics to make black pearl buttons). A '60's groovy asterisk, mounted onto a menswear grey pinstripe dp. Done.
So fun and what's my music right now: Van Morrison.
Thanks to Dr Sonja for inspiring me to get out of my same old, same old and break out the glue gun. And Audrie...another WOWsers on the IC today.
I'll get back around to commenting on all the card, I am heading back in to play some more...

You were able to write with your hot glue gun!!! Sheesh, I could barely draw squiggles. What a striking fashionable card, Susan. I love this style of image that reminds me of old dress patterns.

Susan, how could you go past the ever classic beauty, Audrey! Love your vibrant bg, fab colour, for your Audrey and the sentiment looks terrific - I have not tried that technique.

Holy Moly - writing with a glue gun - no wonder you wanted to start with black glue rather than trying to emboss the clear stuff. Love the juxtaposing of the wild swirls of intense color in the bg paired with the spartan coloring on your "Audrey". I am in awe of the fine-lined Ruby lips . . . if I tried that she would have ended up with a totally embarrassed - total red-faced look.
