This is for today's Technique Lover's Challenge to use a digital image (not my usual procedure!). I found this pretty butterfly and printed it on an oversize index card that I cut to 4x6" to fit in the photo paper slot of my printer. I was midst school day so I set the print down in the kitchen. Came back to find a water splotch that had caused the colors to separate out from the black. Well, I thought, I don't want to go through the whole printing process again and I like the look of those colors. So, I dipped my finger in water and went over the main black areas with the water. I also dripped a few water splotches onto the white space. Later I found I'd missed some spots and used my wet brush for a more controlled "water painting." Once this all dried, I scribbled with a Wisteria marker onto an acrylic block and used a wet brush to paint in the purple. All the other color came from the black. I took a Bronze marker and added dots over areas that had turned brown. I lost a lot of detail with the water, so I took my Wisteria marker and used the etching technique of flicking lines to add detail back in, and also went around the edges of the butterfly to clean it up a bit. I also used my Clear Star marker to add some shimmer which is, of course, hard to see in the photo. I spattered some of the Wisteria and also shook my Bronze marker to add spatter as well. I used a dot glue runner to add bits of adhesive randomly around and then adhered bits of dictionary page to that.
Thanks for a fun challenge!
