What a morning... I decided I really liked Kia's option for the challenge today. In the end it was decided to go with making 4th or Canada Day cards. It still fits the challenge but I also wanted to do Kia's idea of making your own stencil suggestion plus the red maple leaf. I had the Your Next Stamp hockey player which I thought would work. I also wanted to try the ghosting technique with a stencil that Loll Thompson has done. I made a stencil with the MFT grid die and another one with the maple leaf die from Your Next Stamp. I sponged inside the grid die stencil and layered the maple leaf stencil over it and used a damp paper towel to dab over that. I quickly removed the stencils and let it dry. In the end I wanted a little more dimension so I used a 1 inch square to punch out the grid. I used another grid to adhere my squares to the card to keep them straight. I cut the sentiment apart and stamped and die cut it out with a word bubble die from Lawn Fawn.

Fantastic card, Irene! Have a young one here who plays hockey and love that image! Loved reading your process in designing this and loved the idea of Canada and the maple leaf! Brilliant!

Wow, this card took some precise technique and, of course, you did it all beautifully. You have to study this to see that background effect. Plus, placing a series of squares like this is not easy but yours are lined up perfectly. Awesome creation, Irene.
