This is for the Ways to Use It Challenge 56 to use a monogram. This is my first card using a monogram as I hadn't even cut the two I purchased out. I love Friends card and I wanted to make an F window type of card with the two beautiful little girls from And Everything Nice. I will send this card to my closest girlfriend that lives in Ohio. We have been frriends since we were 16 and have never missed a beat even though we lives 1000 miles apart.
This was more work than I bargained for and I also used up quite a bit of my new paper from the spring catalog. I don't use paper much but thought it would be really nice with this kind of card. I cut out a regular size card to place the window F and painted scene on. I wanted to have room inside to write a note. I cut out a 1/4" smaller section piece to create the card front and to layer on top of the main card. I glued a white piece of cardstock to the half of the card that would hold the F so that it would be solid and then covered it with another piece of the background paper so it would be finished on the inside. I wanted the coordinating side of the paper to be on the front of the card for variation. I cut out the F and cut and tied ribbons on it and then glued the F on the main coorindating front. I then cut out the front of the F to create the window. This process took me three times longer than it took to paint my complete picture but I think it is worth the effort.
I stamped my image on watercolor paper with brown stazon. I sketched in my trees with an artist pen and painted. I noticed that I smeared brown paint onto my clean paper right beside the girls so I sketched in an additional rock area to cover up the smear. Ugh!!! Oh well, it worked out. I used the fern stamp from Watercolor Minis for the leaves, grassy area and a few little pink flowers in the background. I used reinkers to paint the girls and to paint in little grass areas around the trees and behind the girls.
