This is for Lydia's great mixed media challenge - homemade water drops!!!
Using Archival ink I stamped on the owl. I also stamped him on a scrap of acetate and fussy cut - rub this template in your hair (or on acrylic fabric) the static electricity should be enough to hold the mask in place. Acetate masks are great because you can still see the image perfectly. I have also been know to cut the acetate image that comes with the stamp!!
Using the smack and squirt technique (smack distress ink pad onto foil, squirt on water, then sponge onto card using a foam blending tool) I sponged on squeezed lemonade, followed by wild honey. I then used the same method to do the grassy area using mowed grass followed by peeled paint. I finished with a smack and squirt sponged layer of ripe persimmon (taking it into the green area a bit).
I applied a bit more of each colour, but this time I did not use any water, just the blending tool and ink. I used the exact same colours on each card, the different appearance comes from the actual amount of each ink used. This next bit is not for the faint hearted.....sponge walnut stain over the card, starting from the outside edge working your way towards the centre, stopping just shy of the owl. This gives the illusion of a glow.
Now about the stamping. The little dots at the top are a Penny Black tree stamp used upside down. The sentiments are from Hero Arts. Everything else is from a beautiful Unity Stamp Co set (the fairy from my Teapot Tuesday card is also from this set).
Remove mask.
To colour the owls, I smacked some gathered twigs and pumice stone distress inks onto the foil, squirted a tiny bit of water in one corner of each colour, then used an aqua pen to colour them.
Using Lydia's brilliant directions I drew the water drops using a fine Artline pen and a Sharpie white paint pen. I had heaps of fun making these. I can see a lot of water drops appearing on my cards in the future.
Thank you for looking ladies.

I'm trying to leave a serious comment here about your amazing drops and artistic talent, but I'm wheezing with laughter from the smack & squirt technique!!!
