Jeannie has set a great mixed media challenge this week….. using your fingers as tools. I finally purchased a Gelli plate, so I decided to experiment a bit. The brayer I have is only 2” wide and I was struggling to spread the paint so I spread it out with my fingers….worked a treat.
In the spirit of the finger painting challenge I used my finger tips, stencil and distress inks for the chicken wire effect. A bit of molding paste was also added using my fingers. I randomly used a stamp that gives a crackled look.
This was heaps of fun to do, I am trying to block out the thought of the mess on my craft desk, not to mention my stained finger tips LOL.
Thank you for looking.

I knew you'd master the gelli plate after I have seen your incredible backgrounds! These are fabulous and so perfect for your silhouettes. I love the texture and stamping you added to them! Fun, isn't it? It's well worth the mess!

I think this is great! But let's not stress doing these backgrounds with your fingertips. I REALLY want a gelli plate and if dh knew it was possible to get this look without one...well...anyway, it looks like you had a blast and I LOVE the end result!

Wow - awesome cards! I also am excited by the potential of gelli plate printing and have even bought lots of gelatine powder to make my own plate. Thanks for further inspiration!

LOL my craft desk is ALWAYS a mess! The rest of the house is good though Anyway, LOVE this fantastic set of cards you made Susie!!! The backgrounds are wonderful!!! It seems like spring and fall to me, but they could be used for so many events! That makes them exceptional in my book! Well done, as always!!!

Inky fingers is a sign of a true artist! Heehee! GREAT cards, Susie! LOVE your finger-painted, stenciled, distressed, pasted bkgrds! One note - I don't have a Gelli plate but I've read that you have to be super careful how you apply the paint cause you can damage the plate very easily ... just sayin. xx

I took over my 5 foot square dining room table when I tried gelatin plate printing. I loved it and have the Gelli plate on my wish list. Great job with your textures and stamping!

These are awesome - and it sounds like you had a blast making them! Great start with the Gelli plate - I haven't tamed mine yet - in fact, it hasn't been out of its cage in months. Maybe Francie and I can start a support group! Wonderful texture and dimension for your beautiful silhouettes!
