My DH used a movie quote in his sermon yesterday and it really stuck with me. It is from "What A Girl Wants" where the bf tells Daphne, "Why are you trying so hard to fit in when you were made to stand out." I thought it would pair well with this image and sentiment from Tim Holtz. I hope you'll forgive me for using dp glued to a white base for my one layer....I don't have a bg print set and wanted to have print as my initial layer. I stamped my umbrella man then used pencil smudged around the edges to blend in. I masked and stamped my spatter around him. I hand wrote my quote with Night of Navy and Real Red markers and used the Island Indigo marker to make the one word stand out in the stamped sentiment.I sponged Soft Sky and Smoky Slate as well as Basic Grey around the edges. I sponged through dry wall mesh with ink and the chalk inks. I crumpled the whole piece and sponged a bit of grey to make the crumpling stand out.
I really wish I'd learned this life lesson earlier in life, especially during my teen years! My hope now is to teach it to my kids so that they'll stand up against peer pressure and figure out what God wants for their lives and then follow that no matter what others may think. (still needing to do that in my own life too of course!)

WOW...LOVE your discription. I have got the feeling the kids have a super start with a great mom and dad already...I don't think I have seen that movie, but what a neat saying a rule to live by. My boy is 19 and struggling so maybe this saying I will tell him and it might help...NOw about this cool card...which is awesome too. Neat job and great soft edges with the pencil shading and your printing of your sentiment is right on...looks just like a stamp, I have trouble with my writing...TY for sharing and the thought to live by...Hugs to all...:0)
