Ever since the first time I saw the Cana Island Lighthouse in Door County, WI, I have been in love with it. Walking the grounds of this little island I could imagine what it must have been like to live here, and how wonderful it would be if I could ever see the inside of the keeper's house or go up in the tower. Well, after many years, that dream came true. The Lighthouse Historical Society purchased the island and lighthouse from the government and opened the keeper's house up first to the public, and several years ago, opened the tower up to visitors. I have been back several times since and climbed the tower 3 times now. The view is just amazing!!!!!!!!! I love lighthouses and Door County has many. But I think no matter how many I may ever visit, Cana Island will always be my favorite. Now to my card..........the cb is Smoky Slate with a large mat of Night of Navy DP. Around this I attached my Smoky Slate chevron ribbon and then tied some navy baker's twine on top of that, giving it a sort of nautical feel. On top of this I adhered my Smoky Slate mat which was embossed with the Square Lattice folder and matted on ww, and I adhered my strip of polka dot Night of Navy dp. On top of this I adhered my image which I embossed with Smoky Slate powder on Night of Navy cs and matted on ww. I used the ticket punch for my corners on this piece. I popped up both my embossed mat and then my image mat. I can hardly wait to see all the lighthouse cards in the gallery this week, and to find out who I tickle TFL ladies.

Mary I loved your lighthouse story, it set a beautiful stage for looking at your wonderful card. Everything about your card is wonderful, the nautical blue colours look great. Love the embossed lighthouse too. I'm off to google Cana Island right now my friend.

Love that you did this amazing card in the gray and blue - perfectly shows the detail and yet gives it a mysterious air - guess I need to go out to the Midwest - since I have seen most of the Atlantic coast lighthouses - this one sounds like it is really special!!
