WooHoo itÂ’s our first Teapot Tuesday tickle for 2014. Sabrina has taken us on a wonderful childhood journey to the seaside. Our challenge is to create a card with lighthouse on it. For extra cookies we are to include a message of hope, support or encouragement. I donÂ’t think my No Fishing sign is going to qualify, but I am over the moon with my lighthouse.
The lighthouse began as a Tiddly Inks digi stamp. The outline of the digi image was very black and heavy so I printed it in “draft” quality, so the image came out very light grey. Some of you may know I have been dipping my toes into the Mixed Media pond lately. I did the lighthouse scene with copics, then blended with Prismacolour pencils and Odourless Solvent (similar to Gamsol). All of the blue and green was done with gelatos and wiped over with a baby wipe. The white clouds were made by finger painting with acrylic paint. It is hard to see in the photo but I added blobs of crystal lacquer to look like sea spray. I accidentally got some white acyclic paint on the edge of the card, so I decided to add more to make it look like I did it on purpose LOL.
It wouldnÂ’t be a teapot tickle with out adding a Sassy Cheryl digi girl or two (and a fence). Here we have little Jessie and Josie, both fashionably dressed in paper pieced outfits. Young Josie had a wee slip on the rocks and has suffered cuts to her face and legs, all wounds required stitches. Their little fishing rods have bakers twine as fishing line, courtesy of a wonderful treat package from our Miss Kathleen Lammie from Alabama.
The tree is actually a Memory Box die - orchard tree frame – I cut the frame bit off and just used the tree (coloured with gelatos). I am delighted to report that no injuries were sustained in the making of this stair step card.
I did however cause 10 ladies to fall over this morning….it is not as bad as it sounds. It was the first day back at yoga and I was in a class with some very serious looking women. We were doing the ‘downward dog” when the teacher firmly said STAY, STAY……and I couldn’t help myself and went WOOF, WOOF. The lady next to me started to laugh and unfortunately lost her balance, she fell sideways crashing into the lady next to her and slowly one by one they all got knocked over like dominos. You would be proud of me, fellow Teapotters, I remained composed (in downward dog I might add) like nothing had happened.
Have a wonderful day. Namaste

can I just second all these beloved comments, Susie? What a very talented artist you are. The love of your art shows through in a tender way. These lil' girls are a perfect example. And I just thought they could come and play double dutch jump rope with my jumping' for joy woman of a few months ago!

Susie, I think I started at the wrong end of the gallery, so I am just now getting to your card - as always, your creativity boggles my mind - is it the heat that warms up those creative sparks in your brain?? - maybe that is what we are missing here with the awful freezing temperatures.
Then as I read further on about the yoga class, and your "woof, woof" response and the loss of balance caused class wide by an "unknown" participant, I have been laughing ever since - your sense of humor warms my heart!! Bless you!

You can tell its summer there! Your stair step card just has the feeling of a warm summer day! Love your lighthouse and Josie and Jessie...both wonderfully paper pieced!
