Our momof5sons Marie, has given us a heartbreaking story this week. Our cards are going to the Schoberl family following the sad loss of their daughter Leanne.
It is not appropriate to have a funny story this week, but there is something I would like to share with you.
A few weeks ago a friend asked me about our Sisterhood of the Traveling Teapotters. I told her that sometimes we laughed and sometime cried and sometimes we laughed until we cried. I explained that we all made cards and then sent them all over the world to complete strangers. She said, ‘Why?” and I replied, “why not”. She really didn’t get it.
I saw her again today and she asked about this weekÂ’s teaparty. I read her Maries story and showed her the many beautiful cards in the gallery for LeanneÂ’s family. She read all the wonderful comments we write to each other. It would be fair to say my friend now truly understands what it means to be a Teapotter.
Big hugs, Susie xx

Aw Susie, you always bring something so special every week! I know some of my friends and family don't "understand" it either. I LOVE that you took the time to share with your friend so she could see, it is always better to lift up than tear down or ignore.
You have made a beautiful card too! The embossing is fantastic! Love the center detail with the three pretty roses and I love the single butterfly going off on it's own. It is like your card is telling this week's story too. All so wonderful, just like you! Stay cool my friend!!!

Beautiful emb, layered card, Susie! Looks "angelic" w/the light colors and layered of cuts. Nice flourishes and pretty flowers, too. I'm certain the Schoberls will like your card. I appreciated your story about the Teapotters. I have invited many SCers and non-SCers to join our teaparties. Some have come and stayed and others have come and gone. I made my first TP card 2-1/2 yrs ago and the four challenges I've missed were for very good reasons. It is important to me to make a card every week. I think that because our cards are made w/love from the heart and genuine compassion and caring, each one is equally important. My Mom and I have both been on the receiving end and I know first-hand, the positive effect the cards and messages have. I look forward to making a card each week, even though some of the heart-wrenching stories make it hard to do. I was very glad when you joined the Teaparties. You are a wonderful person and a talented paper crafter, Susie. You are genuine, caring, funny and everyone loves you. We all wish we could descend upon OZ for a visit and a cuppa tea ... oh, and a huggle. Luv ya, my friend.

That is so sad. It's hard to wrap our minds around the death of a loved one, but even more so a child. Susie, this is so pretty. The colors are unusual and work so well together. Love that you offset the MS punch in the two colors. So delicate and elegant.

Susie this card is beautiful! I love the embossing and the trellis with the little flowers. I love too how your vine is the same color as the card and not green. I never would have thought of that, and it looks to rich done like that. When I first joined SCS I didn't realize either at first what being a teapotter was all about. After a few weeks doing the challenges, I really grasped the concept. And after the teapot party for my dear SIL when she was so very sick, and I saw how it brought such joy to her, I vowed then and there to never miss a teapot challenge if I could help it. My dear SIL has since lost her struggle with cancer, but my BIL still talks about those cards and how they brought her such joy. She could hardly wait till the mail came every day and talked about how they came from all over the world, and shared them with everyone who came to see her. I think they helped him just as much as they did her. This is the challenge that brings me the most satisfaction, knowing that I can perhaps brighten someone's day just by sending a handmade card. Not to mention how us teapotter's get to have fun and tickle each other once a month. The benefits are endless
